AP & weapons
Just realized that same weapons types can have different AP cost which is weird. Is this intended? I had a default heavy machine-gun which 1 shoted at 4 AP got to magelan base and found a "better" heavy machine-gun then later I realise its ap costs are all +2 so im shooting +10 damage for like +2 AP.... i found it stupid.... wasted 800 money on this dumb gun which is kinda useless.

Also:
Im still in the beginning but my heavy weapon guy shoots 1 28 damage shot at 6 AP while some guy I recruited hits for like 40 damage unarmed for 3 AP.... is heavy weapons a plausible path?

Heavy Weapons are definitely viable. The 'endless burst' ability in particular will absolute delete a single enemy. You need plenty of AP though, and make sure to level up your weapon at every opportunity (Picnic often sells books).
Unarmed can be an issue with spending all your AP just covering the distance to the enemy, but damage per round can become insane. If you go true unarmed in a good servoshell you can punch for 2AP.

Physical damage doesn't work on hard enemies, and you should give your martial character an energy fist called Discord.
I've never used a machine gun, so I don't know, but you can't kill Mobius with one shot, can you?

The basic starting machinegun does fire damage, for what I am sure are very good reasons.
Some enemies are immune to fire. Those, I punch.

Discord and Anjin can kill any enemy in one hit with a crit (80% depending on the build), and aren't melee attacks stronger in general in this game?
If you're not wearing Servosehll, you can sneak up on them and take them by surprise.

Machine gun is very viable. The 10 shot burst can oneshot most enemies in the game UPGRADED. On rank 10 about 70-80 base dmg per shot for all machine gun types.

The cone shot (3 shots at each enemy) can heavily damage groups. 5 enemies? lure them around a corner and cone shot.

In general if you want damage you need to pump the corresponding attribute in the beginning. It's a big difference if you have for example 7 muscle or 11-12 muscle. Depending on the attack this alone are 50% dmg difference. Having ~11 AP at the start instead of 7 AP also is a ~50% dmg increase because you can shoot more often.

Do you need such an extreme stats distribution? Nope. I finished the game with machine guns on second highest difficulty with a jack of all trades build (5 starting attributes, 10 brains, +1 on all stats perk, +1 on lowest stats perk to get at least) and after the first few levels there wasn't any real threat anymore.

That's why you use the handammo machine gun (fire) and a physical one machine gun (there are 2, one forrifle and assault rifle ammo).

It's much better to plow all your books into a single weapon IMO. And as a heavy weapons user it's not much investment to become extremely dangerous with servoshell gauntlets.
