How to explore south end of map? (Many quests need me to go there, but the 'maelstrom' event pops up with a gameover ending..

As title. Just how are you to finish these quests? How do I avoid the popup 'event' that ends the game?

(Specifically 'Among the dead and the living' quest which points to the graveyard at the swamps? - Also, have 'dying thirsty mans mark' which is just south of center of map)

Have you tried progressing a little further in the story? The map should open up more once you do.

Just how far? I've reached the end (at last bit with reactor) of the emulator project, and have no other quests left to do(Other than the one about missing unburied bodies)

after you finished the test of the emulator project and you didnt chose to destroy the whole world, the maelstrom should be smaller and can reach the south

The graveyard for Among the Living and the Dead is in the north of the global map, unless it is randomized.

guess I should have left a response.. but shortly after I last commented, I did finish that last 'bit' of story (really, all it took was talking to her the last time and finishing it all up, since had already gathered all the items, and talked to her, but did not read properly and go back to talk to her the last time/start machine)
