You'll get an achievement if not left the station within 24h (see for yourself, just save before waiting in bed first). And don't die from starving in a process, of course.
I think that the answer to your question is 'No' but someone who has completed the game might know better. There is absolutely no countdown timer to failure that I have ever seen in ANY mission in any way. No big DOOM clock to stress you out or anything like that.
I suppose if you want to get really picky you could say that there are some scripted fights that failing to finish in time could have untoward results (Sparrow and the caravan for one example) but you would really need to be playing quite poorly to fail those.
Yep. If you don't know quite what is going on with that little encounter you can make a dogs breakfast out of it. I didn't think the difference between caravan guards and bandits was as clear as it could have been and maybe totally different colours would have been nice. I know they are different outfits but first time you hit this one it's maybe not so obvious. I had a go-around on it after I just blew everyone away and snuck up on Sparrow and started in on her too. Meh.
