Solo play you just get overwhelmed by enemy rushing in, I've even been stun locked unable to do anything.
No explanation how combat is meant to work?
1. There won't be X-COM like cover system, we're inspired by Fallouts and other old-school RPG, so expect something similar.
2. Conic line of sight is in the works and you can expect it in the release version of the game.
3. We're currently working on attacks from stealth. In the final version of the game you can expect weapons to have different loudness. This combined with your stealth skill level will give you an opportunity to kill some lone targets without raising an alarm. But if some other NPC will hear you shooting, you'll have to fight with all enemies at once, just like before.
4-5. We're not working on it and never promised something like that. Encased is inspired by Fallouts and they didn't have something like that.
6. Keep in mind that range of the weapons are proportional to the size of the arenas, but we'll make sniper rifles to shoot further. Enemies are acting according to the weapon in their hands. If they have a pistol or a rifle, they won't come really close to you, Just close enough for bullets to reach you.
7. You won't be able to ambush or preposition companions before a fight. We never promised that you will be able to.
8. All weapons will only use one skill tree. There won't be hybrid weapons.
9. Companions should use ammo just like your main character.
Soon we'll also announce our release plans and tell what exactly players can expect in the full game.
But it is not really encouraging.
We did not promise this is sort of a self fulfilling prophesy when you have no road map and never specified anything.......
And such examples are not limited to the skill and attribute system.
Also fallout didnt really have many environmental dangers.... Traps etc. So there was very little need to manage companions individually during sector travel.
I would have paid money and brought popcorn to that team meeting when you decided: OoO lets have traps and anomalies and other stuff like timed damage zones and then and then just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles give the player no way to avoid damaging his companions.
I mean you were bloody faithful to fallout just like fallout your initial build or even 2 builds lacked the ability to force the companions to move out of the way and you ended up stuck in doorways.....
Maybe you will also replicate the whole child murder controversy fallout 2 launched with? You would also have an even better excuse they are just "ROBOTS" in our story line.
Also some of your messaging is very misleading the Psy Katana if it is not a cross skill weapon then what is it how does it even work?
Then again psy does not really fit the system at all. Can not use hand to hand with psy? Psy stamina based? Undecided and changing back and forth between a separate combat discipline and basically buffs which is it?
Feels like you just failed at balancing it and now it is just sort of unbalanced and broken.
Cant use hand to hand while wearing gloves? Makes sense sure.
Then the over all balancing issues just piled up and you decided to cut a lot of testing and balancing by dumping all skills together vs choosing skills...... And it will not translate well because changing a fundamental system require changing a lot of interconnected elements.
If you already chose such a short cut after getting a year of extension and supposedly more funding makes me question your ability to even comprehend the scope of the project. A far cry from actually managing the project......
Lone wolf, Light weapons + Contraptions, Stealth based character.
I handled pistols and assault rifles with grenades. And I can make some personal comments on the original post regarding stealth.
3. Here's my thoughts and experiences.
Utilizing stealth I was able to pick off single enemies just fine Provided that they were not CLOSE TOGETHER.
Approaching an enemy that is not near OTHER enemies I can (With a good weapon) Engage them OUT OF COMBAT for a powerful strike, continue shooting them until combat begins since I am not spotted immediately and once combat begins with a high initative I can kill them.
I do not know if this is intended, but I was able to SPAM CLICK on enemies while in stealth, shooting them 2-3 times before they noticed me. When combat began, with my Deftness of 7 I always went first, and was able to use a flurry of shots to kill them.
During the last part of my turn I re-engage stealth. Stealth does not require a resource to use so it's free. Since I am not inside any enemies vision AND in stealth, combat ends, and other enemies either:
A. act as if nothing happened
B. Move to investigate. Their circle widens to cover a large area and they move toward the body/sound.
These are not meant to indicate anyone is right or wrong about anything, I'm simply adding more information
Any news regarding your release plans?
How soon is now?
How long do you plan to further ignore the backers of the game, Stormtrooper?
It seems that there are many different definitions of the word "soon" :)
They can go to hell if you ask me. This everlasting "soon" is a slap in the face.
We don't ignore anyone. We simply don't know the release date ourselves yet. We have estimates, but that's about it. The real "slap in the face" would be if we name a date and then will have to postpone the release once again. We don't want to do that. Nobody wants that.
Our team is currently working hard to finish the game as soon as possible and polish everything. Once we'll be 100% sure, we'll tell everyone the exact date of the release and what players can expect in the full version.
I think it's fair to say there are just as many people interested in the state of development as there are who want to know a release date, why won't you tells us about it?
I thought that the game is finished since December 2020 and only needs polish ...
I believe we wrote that the deal with Koch Media will let us add more content to the game that wasn't initially planned. This content is being developed right now.
Each week we're sharing something new about the game. New locations, enemies, armor, etc. The development is progressing smoothly. If you want to learn something else about the development, then by all means ask. I won't promise that we'll answer everything, but we'll try.
