Hi, is there anything that explains what do different icons over npc's you kill mean, and the meaning of different background colors of items in the inventory?

I am not sure which icons you mean, but for the background color: It indicates the rarity / quality of the item.

It get´s explained when you get your first weapon but you might miss it.
( she tells you that it is of trash quality and when you hover over the word, quality gets explained by a contextual tooltip).
