Online PVP?

I really wanna play this game against real players, but it seems as though I am always playing against bots; even when I attempt to find ranked matches. I've tried the custom match route, and still no luck finding a match. When I play ranked it says I am going against com which I assumed was computers, but then read somewhere that it is combatants, so not sure if it's real players that play like bots that I'm going against, or just bots, but if anyone has a suggestion for playing against real players, please let me know.

COM's are bots they will never be real players when you see the big blue COM on a persons box. The game however is very very dead even more so on PC so your best bet is to find a discord to get a lobby going or maybe people on the steam forums!
