How is this game compared to the original PSP versions?
I had both Dissidia games on PSP and absolutely loved...well loved them so much I raged and destroyed my psp trying to level up and play Ultimecia while playing Duodecim. Sadly I had 300+hours of gameplay in had only 4 more characters to get everyone to level 100. Anyway, I regret that because I was never able to replace my PSP. So now here's the PC version and I remember during the good ole' days when I really enjoyed the game. I think I'm mature enough to get back in and play.

Anyway, as anyone played both PSP versions and this game? How different, if at all, is this version? Is it better? Worse? Any opinions would be great.

Well the graphics are a lot better.
I honestly prefer 3 on 3 battles cause it feels more like FF, I love seeing the classic characters in full beautiful 3d. Garland kicks major butt. I think you should just download the free version and give it a chance and see what you think.

I'm a FF fan and haven't played dissidia till this, and I love it, makes me wanna play the psp ones. So hope that helps.

Its ass bro. I had it on my PS4 and i wasted 7 bucks (it was on sale). The old ones kill this one.

Well i guess the old ones must of been really good cause I'm really enjoying this game so far. Love seeing all the classic characters in full 3d with amazing visuals.

Not worthy at all. The story is very simple and shot and the combats have no deep like PSP.
Mr.Person Jun 17, 2020 @ 7:10am
There is no real story in this one, barely anything to do in Singleplayer at all, combat is much slower and it only allows 1 HP attack per character. The only thing it has is graphics really.

Its worth it if you want to see classic FF characters in beautiful 3d, I like it. I recommend it.

This game is not worth it at all, not even for its beautiful graphics someone has been repeating in this thread 3 times; trying so hard to shill this game despite it's his first time trying Dissidia and only played the free version at that. The game is deeply flawed in almost every aspect. The online mode is riddled with technical issues and basically dead. Unless you joined the community discord server, you'll just be playing by yourself accompanied with braindead AIs. The single player mode, as many have stated before, is very shallow. So does the combat. SE also has dropped support on this game a few months ago.
Unseen Jun 17, 2020 @ 2:36pm
Well I hope it stays online I'm having loads of fun with it, and I never cared for handhelds so I find this one to be more accessible.

Also pretty awesome, if people don't like it, why stage a revolt against digital art in an attempt to ruin other peoples fun? What do you expect them to remake the entire game now? Also the braindead AI's do make practice and achievements easier, its to be expected from most online games. They are usually hard to connect to with people unless they really wanna play. Least the AI's give people a chance to see the game without sitting in a lobby for hours like some other dead online games.

I'm recommending it to the op, its my opinion. I guess to be cool and liked by the whole community of "fans" you have to hate every new FF game. Very strange.

Nah you just have to hate games that deserve it and basically put any chance of an actually good Dissidia game in the dumpster because of how badly this one did.

Where did all of these strawmen come from? Don't make stuff up just because you can't come up with actual valid points. The topic is about OP, who asked a question regarding DFFNT compared to the PSP versions. We; who've experienced the previous Dissidia games and bought the Deluxe/Standard edition; are simply answering the state of the game honestly. Meanwhile, you just keep going on and on about graphics persistently in this thread for some reason. Did SE pay you for this or what? And now achievements? Seriously, that's your counter point? If that's all you think as important in video games, then I feel sorry for you.

Very strange that you keep making strawman and moving the goal post to cover the fact that you basically know nothing of Dissidia franchise.

Dissidia FF NT is better than the PSP games when it comes to multiplayer, by far. Dissidia & Duodecim are better when it comes to story mode/single player, by far.

The issue is, Square didn't give this game the treatment it deserved. That, and old fans are stupid and biased. It was never hidden that the game would be more multiplayer oriented. The fans were never tricked into thinking that this game would be balanced around 3v3 and not 1v1. And they still complained when the story mode was lackluster and the 1v1 fights were boring.

Not only that, but the peer-to-peer in multiplayer makes it so that if one person lags, the other 5 will, and that massively sucks. Combine that with the long queue times and the AI filling the gaps and you get a really frustrating matchmaking system. And it's really sad.

It's sad because, when you manage to jump through the countless hoops, and get to play with two friends against three other people, this game is SO beautiful. One of the best fighting games I've played. Having your assists turned into real people adds so much depth to the combat. Having objectives to fight around during fights (Summons) prevents camping and adds a new layer to the overall fight system. There are some things I regret from old games (Items/gear, a proper story mode, EX mode) but it doesn't take anything away from this game. It's awesome.

But Square didn't give it a chance. The fans didn't. And it makes me incredibly sad. It had the potential to reach the competitive scene, if only it had been treated right and reached the mainstream. If only people were less stupid, expecting a game to be something it wasn't even announced to be in the first place.

My heart tells me to tell you to get it, get on an LFG discord and enjoy it with the small community that's left. My brain tells me to tell you to stay away from it because if you're not willing to put in the effort you won't have fun.

TL;DR: Fans are stupid, Solo mode is ♥♥♥♥, but the multiplayer is great (better than old games) if you find people you can do customs with.
Mr.Person Jun 20, 2020 @ 10:43am
I think I played the old games multiplayer for about maybe 3-4 matches because nobody around me had a copy to play with me except once, even though I have probably 400 hours across both originial Dissidia games. This is why I never liked games that are multiplayer only (or primarily multi) because after they die (which can take only a few weeks/months) there is nothing real left to play, that and they are usually filled with microtransactions like this one is.

Sure the game looks beautiful and 3v3 is cool, but the gameplay was slowed down heavily and only let you have a couple moves and only 1 HP attack as well, and now that its basically dead, there is no point in its existence anymore.

This is why if your going to make a game this different to the source material, don't use the same name of the previous games. Or at least give it a subtitle that makes sense like "Dissidia online arena" or something instead of whatever NT means. Then I wouldn't care and would know to avoid it.

What's worse is that now, any chance whatsoever of remakes/proper sequels of the originals will never happen, because they actually required effort to make all the story content and stuff for and couldn't be stupidly heavily monetized as much as with a pure multiplayer game like this can.

I'm not gonna hate beautiful art, no way not for me I love this franchise and I don't get any of your points other than to destroy something that isn't doing anything but entertaining other fans.

I never played 1 or 2 so I should think this sucks? How does that make any sense? For many of us this will be our first dissidia and we're gonna like it. Why are legions of outspoken "fans" trying to ruin this for others? Boy I feel sorry for the people who really like it more than me and spend money on it. But none of you care long as you get it shutdown and get your way.
Mr.Person Jun 21, 2020 @ 1:50am
I feel sorry for the people that spent money on this game too lol.

Art (graphics) /=/ a good game in and of itself, and this game took a good franchise with a ton of singleplayer content and fun, fast combat and turned it into a slow 3v3 multiplayer focused (basically pure MP) game, while also changing core components for the usually worse and adding a TON of microtransactions.

This game is like Halo 5, Sure it looks better than the first 3 games in the franchise by a lot, but in terms of gameplay and story its way way worse and everyone who was a previous fan of the franchise basically disowned it.

Feel free to like it, doesn't make it a good game, or addition to the franchise.

I gave it a chance, was actually pretty hyped when I found out it was coming to PC. Installed it, did a couple matches of training while marvelling at the graphics. Then hopped in multi with my boy Golbez, (favorite from originals) but then realized over time that everything felt way slower, the amount of active moves was severely limited, and everyone kept clustering up and spamming moves in a giant mosh pit.

Then I saw there was no real campaign content, there was a ton of overpriced DLC and within a week or two the player count had dropped so much it was pretty much dead. And with no single player content, there was no point in keeping it installed.

It just made me want to install the PSP emulator and play the originals again.

Oh and I love to make fun of communism, which is why I have a freaky looking photoshopped Papa Stalin as my pic. I find it funny.
