Gameplay feels slower than 012, but still looks decent enough.
I was talking about character movement and general gameplay, not match duration.
NT matches sure end faster than 012.
My reply was in terms to UnderNight in EVO, not you. Yes, movement and tech wise, it makes 012 "seem" faster, but NT still is.
Before the game releases to the arcade, the dev did field beta test time and time with players on japan.
They tried to replicate the 012 speed and skill customization.
The result ended up with super negative feedback with players saying they have no idea what happen and died without knowing what hits them. Not to mention the amount of different skills for bravery and hp attack and against 3 different players at the same time.
Note that the players that does the test are veteran fighting game gamers around japan.
Create more counter-play avaliability on a match.
In exchanged, they removed the dodge invulnerability frame, and removed the parry state entirely.
Also, slower attack animation enables to do some nasty combos with your nearby allies.
The game even let you do some practice doing combos with ai by (attack twice *without sending enemy away*, let ally attack twice to further stagger state, end the combo with the HP attack)
Or having a mage does hit confirm with a long range long stagger attack, assassin rush in the continue the stagger with some long combo while the mage cast HP attack to end the combo
