direwolf fight won't spawn (sheep quest)

i have talked to the sheep guy and inquired the trembling merchant before entering woods but fight still won't spawn. anybody have any ideas? i tried googling but can't find anyone else that's had this issue. oh and i've already completed ophilia's chapter 4. actually only have a couple chapter 4's left till i'm done with the game. thx

You have to inquire/scrutinize the guy, not just talk to him.

yeah i did, i actually just came on here to say that i figured it out. the first time i went to the clearing all the way at the back of the woods where the save point is, but that's not where the fight's at. there's actually another clearing right close to where you enter the woods and that's where he's at.

edit: funny thing is i fought him twice and still can't beat him with some pretty strong builds. that thing is pretty tough!
