Considering the price of this game, JESUS is it ever bad. Not even worth it at half the price. The characters are unlikable, the story has no real direction to it, the music is generic and boring, the graphics even though meant to be retro styled have been done better in other games like Bloodstained. Yeah this game AT MOST is only really worth 15 pounds and I could not blame people for feeling like they have been fleeced at that price as well.

Price is worth even without sale . Game is in very high standards on Unreal Engine , unique and well composed music for the Genre and Game itself.

Maybe it is just not your genre or it is just not the way you want to play a game.


I like the scenary , the music and to some part the stories but for me personaly they are too "light". I like it more evil and badass (Vampires Dawn).

This game is far away from not worth price or time . I mean steam gives the best options of all ... buy it , try it , give back after 2 hrs . Easy no problemo.

Price is FAR from worth it even at 50% off, 80% then it might be worth it. I played it for this long to give it a good chance so now regrettably I can not give it back, 2 hours for this type of game really is not long enough to make a judgement I think and JRPG's are one of my favourite genres. Yes I am talking about Bloodstained Ritual of the night, yes I know they are not same genre of game but I talking about retro style graphics done correctly Bloodstain hits the mark. Octopath is so far off the mark in terms of good style of retro graphics it is embarrassing.

Personal opinion, everyone has it. For me it's one of the best games ever, got in on Switch and Steam. <3

But these days there are SO MANY videos on youtube, reviews, stuff like that so that you easily could think about "is it something for me?".
Instead of thinking about it, ppl buy random games and write bad reviews because it "isn't like they imagined".

I have it on the Switch, and I don't really care for it. Story meanders. Looks and sounds beautiful though.

And to anyone curious, I came to the Steam page to see if there are any cool mods for it. If you love this game, more power to you.

I unfortunately have to agree (thought not with your exact argument). The graphics and music are perfectly fine, but they decided to make a concept JRPG rather than a story-driven one and, well, they blew it. Every character's story is so hackneyed that it's hard to tell whether you're a masochist for not skipping a scene or for continuing. The combat is enjoyable, but limited, and can't cover the "suspension of disbelief" one's removed from every time they remember that these are "concept stories" too, with nothing on the bone. If I bought this for $60, I'd probably be livid. I had fun, but couldn't recommend it even at the 50% I paid.

Mods are happening but it's still a pretty new thing. You can come join the modding Discord, code t43Kbrp , if you're interested.

Octopath Traveler isn't for everyone. Many gamers, especially the younger generation likes more action and more modern games. However for people like me who grew with the NES and SNES when I was young and played every Final Fantasy available, Octopath Traveler does a very good job with it's turn base combat system. For anyone who liked the old turn base FF games, Octopath Traveler is one of the best game of it's category.

The break and boost system is very enjoyable and also the game being "Open World" gives such high replay value for speed runners. You can have all kind of challenge with Octopath like Speedrun, Low Level game, Solo playthrough with each 8 characters...

To me Octopath Traveler is one of the best RPG out there. Yeah the game isn't perfect, it has some issues but this is easily the game i've played the most in my life and I love it.

Now while I like the graphics of the game I can understand people who wasn't bord in the NES/SNES area to not like them. However to not like the music is absolute blasphemy. OMG the soundtrack for Octopath Traveler is so f* good that if you don't like it you just have very bad taste.

Totally disagree. This game is great. I waited for a 50% off sale but now that I’ve played it I’d say it’s worth full price. I haven’t played a JRPG since chronotrigger 20+ years ago, so I’m far from a fan boy. This game is a masterpiece IMO. Some of the chapter 1 stories are drawn out & boring (cleric) but I love the graphics, music & combat.

Just got this myself (50% off too) and 6 hours in. Really enjoying it so far. Yeah the stories are very basic and so is most of the dialogue, but it really adds to the charm of the game. It isn't trying to be super deep. Sometimes nice simple stories are enjoyable.

The graphics style is really well done. You need to play it to really appreciate it, as its very ugly in pictures and videos.

They really have messed up with the price though. Would have sold so much more. and have better feedback, if they didn't have such a stupid price tag, even a year and a half later.

Should have been half price standard.

You are probably one of the worst gamer i've seen yet (i guess) unable to see the perfection of this game? Really?
Pixel perfect pixel art, soundtracks are making every high ranked musician crazy af (just check out youtube about it godamnit), balance is just magnificient, there's no bugs, no glitches, they made an entire game engine JUST for this game, you got some kick ass reflects without all the ♥♥♥♥ cyberpunk needed. And you got 8 stories, not MGS's level stories, but still 8 stories, you got 4 more bosses to battle to get more classes, you can actually mix classes. I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ you expect.
This game with dragon quest 11 are the verry top tier JRPG you will find nowadays and if you cannot see that then you should just stop playing video games and go on facebook.
