Looks at the 84$ steam price tag... I hear what you are saying as it has soul but I still see that cash grab.

I think you gota look more into Nintendo regarding the price. I'm glad we can afford good titles for very cheap theses days, but I remember back in the days we all paid our SNES classics 60$+ and didn't complained. Now with all the inflation we had in the last 25-30 years 60$ is pretty cheap compared to 25-30 years ago, but people always put forward numbers to their advantage when trying to argue. Also people need to realize that 3-D graphics and photo realism graphics doesn't mean the game is FUN to play. Look at all the titles with amazing graphics but it just have generic ♥♥♥♥ in it and it's not enjoyable in the long run. Even though they costed a lot to produce, are those titles really worth your money? In the end I check which title I played the most and had the most fun with it to value it's real worth.

No wonders why the industry is going to mobile and loot box and ♥♥♥♥ with all the people complaining to have their games free. Just look at Stadia, people don't even understand how much more costly playing those "near free" things are.

Also the game may not be worth it for everyone but on my side after more than a thousand hours spent on it I found great value in Octopath Traveler even at full price. How many titles I have purchased for 5 bucks but i've played it for only an hour or 2 and then I uninstalled it.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Just tired seeing the forum flooded with price issue. It just shows that people really want to play it seeing great value in it but are not willing to pay...

When I see games like witcher 3 at 56$ and on sales often, same as divinity original sin for 55$ and get sales I look at octo path and laugh at that price tag. Why sell a few copies at 80+ $ when you could make more money selling it at 50-60$?

If that's so laughable then why make this a big deal? People complain because they just want free stuff, they'll find any numbers that will fit their narrative. It's not because other company lower their price that you are entitled to have everything lowered. If someday I sell my house and the guy visiting is saying "but there's another one cheaper" yeah but if it's cheaper, why don't you just buy that one and ♥♥♥♥ off, if the guy is still here that mean that the other house is missing something...

Just because other company lower their price it doesn't mean others are forced to lower their price as well. If you don't like it then play something else, shouldn't be that big of a deal with how many games there is on steam, but seeing people complaining about the price tag just shows how much Octopath Traveler is different from the generic crap out there and deserves its price. For all I know Octopath Traveler has sold over 2 million copies worldwide so why would they lower their price if the game sells well. Saying thing like "but they would make more money", yeah they would probably sells more during that price cut but what do you know in the long run if it's more profitable or not? If you know how to be successfull in business why don't you start your own gaming company.

I believe octo would be more successful if they sold it for less. Not saying it should be free just that they charge too much for it.

Coming from the guy defending that FIFA games are worth 60$, that's hilarious.

You going to keep trying to strawman me on that one eh... EA is a trash company and does not deserve any money. They have a monopoly on some on some sport games. I won't even buy nhl games until a deep sale and this is from a hockey player. What a fool, keep trying to justify that octo is worth 84$ bud.

Except they sold 2 millions copies (march 2020) at that price with no problem. But i agree the problem is not the price in western but the regional prices in some places.

Well there is no way to confirm at what prices those copies were sold at and I doubt they were all at the 84$ what they are charging on steam. I for one got it on switch on sale, it was a long time ago but I think 30$~
