Steal is completely OP.
Playing the Switch version and Therion's steal ability is beyond broken. I already have my party fully equipped with endgame gear less than five hours into the game. Its also interesting that the devs put save points near the NPCs with good loot, so they had this mechanic in mind.

That can only be true if you save reset exploited. Otherwise you have about a 2% chance to steal high level gear at the start of the game and it costs a huge amount of in game currency to reset your reputation with a town.

Amen.

Exactly.
What? Explain please now :)
I have 100 hours+ on this on the Switch. OP is clearly talking rubbish. Please ignore.

That's my point. The devs are encouraging the save scumming because they leave save spots near all the NPCs with amazing loot. I doubt anyone in their right mind could resist that.

I just used the spreadsheet posted on GFAQs to find where all the good stealable stuff is. And I used the scholar passive "Evasive Maneuvers' to reach the endgame cities where most of them are located.

I suppose that's the hazard of giving players a mostly open world straight out of the gates. You can get the same or better results from throwing Evasive and Evil Ward on your party, running around high-level areas with Therion, and grabbing chests with near impunity (you don't even 'need' Evil Ward. It just makes things a bit less tedious).

Like many RPG's with any amount of free exploration, if you just skip the actual exploration and go straight for the guides, then sure. You'll probably find an easy way to overpower yourself earlier than usual. *shrug*

So abusing save scumming is broken. Shocker. Welcome to single player gaming, where self control is optional.

Sounds like your own fault and not the games.
Where's the nearest tavern?

It is a game fault tbh. If there is a possibility for a player to get the best ignoring rest most people will do, same with everything in life. It's the developer's job to prevent situations like this.

No, it's still your fault you can't restrain yourself. Just because something is possible or not forbidden doesn't mean you should do it.
5 hours in the game with end game gear. This game sounds really strange

Everything that is not forbidden is allowed and will be used by the players. Any good game designer takes this into account, especially when developing open world games. If game just becomes too easy because players did something legally available to them, it's the game design's fault not the players.

The biggest difference between this and any, say, Final Fantasy game where you can overpower yourself is that this world opens up straight out of the gates as opposed to shoehorning you through 10 hours of story bits before letting you off of the set path.

In the Zodiac Age versions of FFXII, for example, as soon as the game lets you off the leash to start exploring major chunks of the world, you can beeline for some of the best equipment in the game straight away if you want to and break the rest of the story difficulty over your knee. It just takes longer before the story reaches a point where you get that freedom.

Again, if you go straight for the guides and completely skip the exploration in what's supposed to be an exploration-heavy game and then do a bunch of save-scumming to ensure the best results in actions with poor odds, then yeah. You're probably going to miss out on a good chunk of whatever challenge the game offers.
