Dificulty
Hello all. I started my game with Tressa. I unlocked all the characters after. Now, tressa is lvl 25 olberic is 21 hannit is 25 and i have ophelia at 20.

Im Trying to beat tressa chapter 2 boss. The mining town owner. It says its a 22 lvl dificulty. AND I CANT BEAT HIM. Tried at least 10 times. I know git gud. But honestly is the level requirement for chapters a bit misleading? Or am i just, not good?

I wouldn't put much stock in the level requirement numbers. The vast majority of your overall power comes from your equipment and how well matched your jobs/abilities are against the weaknesses of the enemy you're fighting. If you're fighting an enemy that's weak to bows, axes, and wind magic and you don't have any of those available, you're going to be a severe disadvantage (dealing less damage without the breaks and taking more hits on turns that the enemy could have been broken).

Even if you're 10 levels above the stated requirement, you're probably still going to struggle if you don't have decent equipment and the appropriate skills available.

I have more that 2 weakness that this boss requires. Im able to kill his 2 guards and by the time i almost get the actual boss hes spawns 2 more guards. At this point last night after almost killing him when he spawned his 2 extra gards i raged quit. I was on this guy for an hour. Then grinded for 2 more and still no luck. Clearely im doing it wrong

Usually adds are not important and die just to aoe damage, if you can't deal with them in 1 turn just break them and ignore. Having buffs and debuffs and breaking the boss is more important.

Don't hurry to break the enemy as soon as possible though, I didn't fight that boss yet, but sometimes they get stronger with each break and sometimes they try to activate a special attack which will be bad if you can't break the enemy before it activates. So it is good idea to utilize each break as much as possible - collect charges, cast buffs, debuffs, break enemy at the beginning of your turn, then you will have 7 actions during broken stage instead of only 4 compared to if you do it at the end of your turn. If everything else fails, try different combo of heroes.

Did you get all base secondary classes unlocked? On the way from tier 1 town to tier 2 town in each area there is a cave marked with candles on minimap and stonehenge on global map which unlocks secondary classes. On top of adding some skills (both passives and active) they also add extra stats and access to extra weapons. Make sure to equip the actual weapons though instead of using defaults which come with the class. Plus while you travel to all those 8 caves you may gain few more levels which will make the battle a little easier.

But overall yeah, your level seems fine for the battle, just need to study boss patterns of attack, his weaknesses, choose a team which is good against him and then solve the puzzle of the battle. Don't forget about items which you can use instead of skills which give you even more options.

I only finished Ophilia's 2nd chapter and boss there was on the next level of difficulty compared to chapter 1 ones. He had much more noticeable enrage timer - gained 2 extra stacks of stability after each break and more attacks per turn. So it was important to utilize each break as much as possible instead of trying to break him faster.

Well i had no idea about secondary jobs and those cave you speak of. Will check this out tonight. I recruited everyone and went strait for the chapter two of my main char (tressa) maybe that explains why ive been unsuccesful. I did go off the beaten path a couple times but ended up being DESTROYED there too... Will try again after work. And its just like you said. The main boss here in tressa chapter 2 is one of those where once you break him once it get stronger every time. So i figured must kill his lieutenants first. Will try to get the main guy first tonight.

If you don't mind a little explorative trial-and-error, you can get a large amount of cash and high-end equipment by throwing on the "Evasive Maneuvers" passive from the Scholar job (and ideally the level 3 "Evil Ward" passive from the Cleric job - helpful but not required) and exploring the high level zones for cash and treasure. There are quite a few pieces of high-end equipment available to simply pick up if you can reach it and you can reach nearly all of it just by having those buffs and not being unlucky when running away from the fights.

For example, if you make it to the easternmost town on the map, an NPC can sell Tressa a spear with ~360 elem. attack power which, as I recall, is the second most powerful weapon in the game in terms of that stat. A dungeon in the southern desert has a dagger with 330-ish attack power in wide-open chest near the entrance. An NPC in a northwest town has another one of those daggers for sale as well. I just grabbed these and many other things at ~level 15 in my current playthrough so that should be an easy alternative at your level.

Yeah, boss in 2nd chapter had a ton of HP. I had to break him 4 times, and was dealing 2x2000 damage with each burst (2-3 characters per break). This just means that you do have to optimize your battle otherwise it becomes too hard if it takes too long. I almost failed at the 2nd chapter 1 boss battle when mouse boss started jumping at me every turn.

Tressa can actually break the game, seen someone beat it with her in 46 mins at level 18, it was nuts.

Just need to learn the tricks of the game is all, I'm sure this guy has played it for awhile but you can watch the vid on youtube, enemies also scale based on amount of party members so the requirements might be for a single chars level.
Moe Jul 17, 2019 @ 6:56am
Okay you guys where right my equipment was the problem. I upgraded and now i was able to beat him. Thanks for the help
I just finished that boss wasnt hard at all but it all depends on what classes you have with you and secondary jobs.
if you pick right secondary jobs you can always, with some BP, put boss/mobs in vunerable state fast.
Btw Im glad I picked alfyn, his potion making for ex party SP,HP or BP (... especially party BP is a good way to have reliable exploit attacks ready for stun) is really, really good while he can also dish out good melee dmg. I made his secondary job a warrior, and now he can not only do 2 hit magic potion attacks but also wield axe, pole and sword.

Equipment and unlocking the secondary jobs is a must.
LuckyToShoot Jul 19, 2019 @ 1:11am
tressa? get scholar job, learn the double hit spells, block for 2 turns, spend all bp on a spell that the trash are weak against, it will destroy them, when boss charge up a powerful attack use sidestep to dodge it and u wont get stunned, by the time he summons more trash again, u should be able to blow those bp on another powerful spell again, rinse and repeat until win. this works for tressa solo btw. but yeah you need the armor too of course.
