Let's be honest here...
How do you charge $40 in 2019 for Super Nintendo graphics?

Just gonna paste one of my replies from one of the other topics:

Anything with pixel graphics is now relegated to being "niche" and not worth the price tag despite having a top quality presentation. This game is absolutely on par with a AAA title, but since it's not 3D people endlessly whine. Why even bother with pixel graphics games if you have no respect for the genre at all? It seems like most people posting here don't care about these old school type of rpgs and just come here to complain about something they have no interest in.

To be fair, it's closer to PS1 graphics.

The graphics seem similar to Saga Frontier 2.

Let's be honest here, it still takes a lot of work, the game is the same size as a 3D game, and it requires far more work to make a 2D game than it does a 3D. 2D games take up less memory but by far can have more content than a 3D game, think Factorio, or literally any modern 2D management game. They're worth the price and unless you've sat down and tried to work in the 2D instead of the 3D, then you'd understand the amount of work it takes to do these kind of games.

Edit: If you had said "How do they justify charging full price for a game that was out a year and ported to PC?" I'd understand that, your heart was in the right place, but not the argument.

Edit 2: I realize this is a pseudo-3D game, but most of it's assets are 2D.

People will pay anything for nostalgia and a brand name.

no, just no.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I don't think you are looking to be honest by falsely claiming the graphics are on par with super Nintendo.

dear idiots: it doesn't matter how many pretend dimensions an asset has. it was made by an artist and it took time and effort. you can't say THIS GAME SHOULD BE CHEAPER/MORE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE ITS 2D/3D because that's retarded.

This isn't factorio though, and what your comparing isnt the artstyle but the gameplay. This is a horrible comparison. Sure 2D can be as complex as 3D but this isn't one of them. This type of pixel art takes less work than 3D.

go look at the secret of mana "update" and tell me you can judge how much work a piece of graphical art requires solely on whether or not its 3D.

How can someone be so wrong so many times in one single post is beyond me. I hate this current culture of pseudo-devs who talk about things they know nothing about...

The game is at mixed reviews, released at $40, and chose a "updated" version of a old 2D game. Poor comparison. Realize this is a $60 game, more in other regions, but yes lets ignore the other 3D games that cost $60 on release that were not a remaster of a old game.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't pixel art much less costly compared to 3D cgi? In Canada this game is priced even more than new triple A releases (its $84) and so even if this game took the same effort and budget such as something like Red Dead Redemption 2 it makes no sense why it's not at most $80 Canadian.

LOL Pleb you can buy it on nintendo switch, gamestop will happily sell you a used copy for $55 after one year. :steamfacepalm: Cuz Most ppl buy this don't need to trade it in for the money for a new game.

Even the cheapest retailer brand new is $45. You can buy that switch copy and forget about modding.

You don't even know nintendo rarely drop their price, howabout you go beg for money if you want this game that much, this is a game that cater to late 80/ early 90s "ADULT" with memories of 16 bit console. Kids please go play fornite.
