Pixelated Much?
So I heard this game in full screen on 1080p 23" desktop monitor is really pixelated?
Asking $60 for windowed game experience on PC is not nice...

The bigger the screen, the more pixalated is going to look. I am not sure if setting higher resolution helps.

I have two laptops, one is 15.6" and the toher 17". In the first one he game looks fine, a little pixalated but OK. On the other, I can see model characters start to look ugly and they start to loose form, and is only 17". So I imagine 23" is going to look worse if it is in 1080p.

Like I said, maybe in higher resolutions 2K and 4K might look better but I am not sure about this.

I have a 27" 4K monitor and the game is absolutely beautiful. The game is PIXEL art, of course you are gonna see Pixels. Now if you want to talk about the non pixel art portions, like UI, it is all really well done. I was actually surprised, most Square-Enix games the UI is made for 1080p at best, sometimes 720p even, so look like ♥♥♥♥ at any other resolution due to how they resample them. However, the UI in this actually looks really crisp, either they used truly scalable assets for their UI or actually put in the effort to include UI assets for at least the more common resolutions. What most people are probably mistaking for "pixelation" is how the extreme Depth of Field tends to cause details, especially on the edge/corners of the screen, can have some truly ugly results. The Switch version had the exact same issue. However, I saw a Community Guide on how to turn off the Depth of Field through UE4 Config Files, so that might not even be an issue with this release.

I know it's a pixel art style design, but what i'm really concern is, how big that one pixel will be stretch out in desktop monitor. This game is design for switch handheld which has very small display size.
I've played a lot of pixel art game, and all of them looks ugly in 1080p fullscreen, unless you play it in 900p windowed mode.

To be honest, the non-pixel art, at least from what I have seen, have been very crisp on my screen. I haven't gotten very far, but I can tell you it looks much cleaner than the Switch version from everything I've seen, and I was honestly vastly surprised by how good the UI looked from my past experiences with Square-Enix PC ports. Hell, my largest complaints with the game is the fact that it can takes a while to start up (10+ seconds sometimes before the window opens on a NVMe SSD). And, then it will continue playing audio in the background for 10-30 seconds after the window closes (the game is still running in the background since Steam still shows me in-game while this is going on). Other than that, I've been really surprised with how well it has run, but considering the art style and the fact this is originally a Switch game, I'd be more surprised if it actually ran that poorly, especially on UE4.

Ok, thanks for the info, still i will just wait for discount. It's so expensive in my currency. Knowing SE, hopefully it will get discounted in a month.

Download "Reshade", activate "CRT" ,"FXAA" and "Gaussian Blur". tweak the Settings yourself or use a downloaded Preset and it will blow you away.

Played it on "Switch" and this is one of the few Games that is worth every Penny. The Soundtrack alone is OUTSTANDING and one of the best ever composed for a Game in general.
