That is turned on since forever
idk...i'm sorry it's not working for you....but for me that was definitely fix after reinstalling windows.....idk if it's important, but now i have win 10 x64 build 1709....i did reinstall to make teknoparrot sega rally 3 work because it's not working beyond that build....few days after reinstalling windows octopath was crashing with that fatal ue error until i found on yt about IVT, i enabled that and now it's working....idk what was the problem in the first place...one thing is sure, no updating my windows ever again :)
I wish to add my own lament to Rain's thread, since I've explerienced the same issue.
The virtualization thing didn't work for me either, and going back to previous versions of OS, drivers and whatnot really is a pain, for such a recent game. Square Enix support center didn't help one bit.
Sadly, I had to settle for a refund.
I solve the issue by deleteing the folder %AppData\Local\NVIDIA\NvBackend\VisualOPSData\Octopath Traveler
Hope it would work for you as the same
THANKS FOR THIS "GAME SAVING" POST.
For those who had no clue how to add launch options like i did in the beginning, just right click on the name of the game on your list of games and choose "Properties". It's on the bottom right panel from the general tab.
EDIT: Restarted steam and all is looking good now. Can't wait to dive in to this one.
This file does not exist anywhere on my computer, so I can not delete it either
If you are playing on a laptop you should update your integrated GPU as well. It's quite a hassle to find out if and how you can upgrade it. For example Acer stoped upgrading my integrated GPU 2016 and i didn't know this. So i had to look if they do, which they didn't, then i had to find out how i can update it myself with intel drivers. But since i did that i never had a single ue4 error anymore so it's worth the time.
