no, you don't need to

The games are different. I would argue the Complete Saga is more fun. You go from level to level right away which makes co-op play a lot better. I genuinely hate the open world segments of this game.

^Don't see why the open world elements are any better or worse than the same in the last six or seven Lego games.

Haven't played those. Only lego games i've played a good chunk of were lego star wars 1&2/complete saga, batman, indiana jones, and Marvel Super Heroes which yeah had an open world, but its super heroes and you could fly or swing around so travelling was more fun.

Having hubs to run around in and do side quests with only 2 or 3 proper stages per movie is not fun. And the vehicle stages are terrible. felt like this game was designed for solo play and co-op was an after thought because I only play this co-op and we dont want to split up and do mundane crap around the open world. We just wanna play like the old games, a simple beat em up and get through stages.

Worked for me.

Way to research the game. It was made very clear it wouldn't be like that. The open world has been an emphasis in Lego games for a decade now. Welcome to the current times.

Its not about research. Its my opinion. I don't like the direction they took these games, simple as that. Just because something becomes the norm doesn't make it acceptable by default. I saw the trailers, I saw reviews, and none of them mentioned what a slog the experience is because they all played solo and only showed the action stages while briefly mentioning the hubs. I wonder why? maybe cuz its boring and they didnt waste their time on them since they had to get the review out quick.

Not gonna change my mind on this. I know other people enjoy this and I wouldn't want to take that away from them so ill just play the old ones and hope they can refine this system in the future.

That's nonsense. Basically every comment I saw on this game was about how missions were shorter and there was more emphasis on the open world aspects. I was on the board for five minutes and saw a bunch of posts by people like you complaining about this. And many of the reviews certainly mentioned it. And, sorry, videos aren't going to teach you crap.

>I wonder why? maybe cuz its boring and they didnt waste their time on them since they had to get the review out quick.

Of course. All the video reviewers are lazy. They often use file footage and record some half-assed five minute script with lame jokes and then move onto the next game. You're going to the worst source of reviews and then wondering why they're so crappy. Try reading actual reviews and reading fan comments.

>Not gonna change my mind on this.

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything...it's your preference. I just think you should have seen it coming...I don't think you researched it well or you'd have known about this. The emphasis on open world was easily the thing most discussed and complained about.

> and hope they can refine this system in the future.

More likely Traveler's Tales will step away from Lego games for a while.

Your opinion is incorrect, then.

played just about every lego game to date.
this one is two steps backward and felt lacking in any real soul
same things over and over most of the time.
gameplay wise all the other lego starwars games are better, even the one for gameboy advance

Do you need them? No. Should you still get them? Yes.

I am with Com1 on this. I was severely disappointed in this game. The open world should not have been included... There's no point to it imo.

get lsw2 and lsw1 and the circle is complete
Do you need them? No. Should you still get them? Yes. But only complete saga and clone wars.
I liked running around the star wars universe, the open world is great
