i need some help!

i dont know how to get characters. i started at episode 1. the the water thing with jar jar, did the pod race. i thought it said i unlocked 3PO.

i was trying to do the thing where i need 3PO to get something. but i dont know where to get him.

everytime goto the character thing in the hyperprojecter. it is locked where i can change them. even when i did the free play thing with the jar jar underwater and the pod race, once im done it shows that the character thing is locked again. so i dont have 3PO,

i know this is a lot but not sure what the hell i am doing.

i watched some you tube stuff and they show people buying charaters, i dont know what im doing.

In some parts of the story you are locked to certain characters.
After finishing an episode you unlock freeplay, where you can use anything you want.

You also have to buy the Characters after unlocking them before being able to play them in Free mode

Some characters are unlocked, whereas some characters are unlocked to purchase. If they have an "x" on them, they're locked away. If they don't but are in the dark, they're available for purchase. If they're light, then you can use them

not sure if anyone knows the area i am talking about when you find the pieces of 3PO and you put them on a slab. i have 3 pieces but need the piece thats requires 3PO (i assume) to get in a small area.

i seen it in a you tube video. and he got 3PO and finished the puzzle.

thats what i am trying to get back to. i am lost! lol

you can get the final piece with force user, find just right angle and you can pick it up

so i dont need 3PO? i tried to force it out but seemed to be just too big to get out. and i think there is a block in there, maybe not.

and, i cant find that area on the map now. lol. i am so lost

ok, i think i tried to get it out from there with the force. that area is on mos espa right?

i cant seem to find that area on the map now. lol

You can't select all characters during story, but you if you go back to areas when you have already completed the story in there, you should be able to play anyone you have unlocked.

Force user can grab the piece of the 'portrait'.

Character selection tab is 'locked' while doing story levels and will unlock when you do enough to allow free-play for that area.

C3PO will not be unlocked for a bit (assuming you are in early Episode 1) so you will have to revisit some areas in free-play later on to finish all the puzzles needing a protocol droid.

So, there are three different things happening here. The first is that you don't need a protocol droid (which 3PO is just one of in the game - all protocol droids have the same abilities) to complete the specific puzzle you're referring to.

The second, is that even once a character is unlocked, unless it's one of the ones that auto-unlocks, you have to go into the purchasable characters in the menu and actually unlock them. When they can be purchased, their circle will no longer have a lock icon on it, and you'll see a black silhouette.

The third, is that in story mode certain characters cannot be selected at all. If you revisit those areas in freeplay mode, you can freely select characters.

If you completed the pod race and advanced the story and still can't purchase 3PO anywhere, and he still has a lock icon on him... then that's a bug. He should be purchasable after that.

Other missions that also unlock versions of him are Boarding Party in Episode IV, and just completing all of Episode VII.

Its locked for me and im in episode 3, although when i click it open it does show that i have one of the "skins" unlocked, but can't select it.

Also i purchased rumor for it, and it says to unlock finish chapter 3 or 4, not 7 as you said.
