check what your low on in your journal, check what you need to unlock something new, or calculate what stock is generally down but anticipated as being required within a few days, etc
I quite like having to decide on what to pick up and what to leave behind. It makes planning upgrades more fun, and I don't feel like there's "too little" room in my backpack.
So yeah, Just wanted to point out that, at least I, appreciate it as it is.
A padlock and log of wood currently takes up the same amount of space, even though you'd probably need 30 padlocks or 100 boxes of matches to get to the weight of a log.
It would be fairly easy to do as well.
Define a backback volume, and a max carry weight for the character.
Assign each type of loot a volume and a weight.
If backback volume is exceeded you can't add it, and if max carry weight is exceeded you can't add it.
Would also make you think twice before stufing your backpack with pillows and wooden boards.....unless that's what you were hunting for.
Would also make it much easier to decide what loot to ditch for better loot, by adding a "sort by volume" and "sort by weight" options to the backpack.
The flat X amount of items is the laziest solution possible.
But I guess they needed to keep it simple for console players to understand it ;-)
While it may seem lazy, it would probably be the easiest to implement and like you said, it's best to keep it simple for the simps ;P
