Having the same problem. Pressing both menu buttons simultaneously as instructed, resets Oculus viewport, but the game doesn't recognize that occurrence.

I saw in another thread that rebinding the controls via steam menu helps. It still sucks though, VR=/=Vive. If the game was designed so specifically around Vive, then it should list Vive specifically as a hardware requirement.

Solution may be simple or not, very first thing I have to deal with when I boot the game for the first time shouldn't be looking up solutions for getting an extremely widespread VR unit to work with it.

Steam hardware survey as of June 2024 indicates that 38.3% of VR users are using a Quest 2, 15.5% are using Quest 3, and 4.2% are using HTC Vive.

At least 53.8% of VR users on Steam can't run this game without dealing with custom keybindings.

do you use Virtual desktop? or steamlink?

Mostly this will happen on Steamlink; it only detects the vive vr because vive vr was the only vr device before quests 2 & 3 were released, but they are no longer updating the game, sadly. The second option is to get VD (Virtual Desktop) to make quests 2 or 3 work, BUT if you want to play through the Steamlink, you have to change the controller bindings. (To do that, go to "Controller Bindings" -> "Custom" -> "Choose Another" -> and choose any controller binding by workshop. Glad this would help! :steamhappy:

For someone still wondering: Use Airlink instead of Steam Link or something and game works correctly

Run the game from the "Virtual Desktop Streamer" application. This happens because it does not detect the controllers correctly, but if you run the game from within Virtual Desktop it detects them correctly. ( i dont speak english, i use google traductor)

It's a pain in the ass!
I found a solution similar to above where you use Meta Quest Link but for reasons unknown it's so laggy on the headset that its unusable. Where as Steam Link runs perfectly but of course you have the controller issue.
