I've been physically crouching mainly due to the unexpected 'pop up' that happens when using the crouch button but even then this only just helps as after physically crouching my player height can get messed up needing me to reset the player position.
There's too many guards, and taking them out quietly with a single stab to the head from behind still somehow magically alerts other guards in other rooms, behind closed doors. Should not be happening.
And peripheral vision is indeed huge, almost 180 degrees.
It also doesn't help that the alert marker is yellow, and doesn't scale. It should scale up when they are far away, so you can still see clearly that a far away enemy is in the process of spotting you. Sometimes it's too small, and too difficult to see on the light background. If the icon had a darker contour, that would have worked better.
So the whole thing gets frustrating. I either end up slaughtering everybody, or just waiting for the bells to dash in, grab the stuff, and walk out in guts mode.
I also very much wish there was a better or stronger way to throw things. Drawing enemies away with noise can be great, but I can't for the life of me throw anything more than 7-10 feet.
