I don't own the game. What happens if you die?
I was thinking of buying the game when I thought, "What if you die?" I heard one review mention "losing everything". Does the game have perma death? If not, what are the consequences for dying? I'm asking because perma death is a big turn-off for me.

I see. Can you save at will like in a Bethesda game, or is it automatic?

You can't save at will. The saves occur when travelling between locations and when you rest at your base.

To clarify, you have multiple options when you die. You can continue from the starting point of the current map you are on, and then you need to get back to where you died to recover your backpack full of loot.

Or you can reload from the last autosave (usually when you first arrived at the current map).

yea you have
1. respawn immediately and go get your gear.
2.restart mission
3.load one of the previous days or checkpoints.

the games very lenient on dying.

Also the loot and some events will be randomized again if you reload instead of respawning.

If you die in VR, you die in real life.

Also the game's super simple in terms of combat, there's a bigger chance that you'll die to a controller lag or weird physics issues than impossible gameplay situations.

Till getting up to day 30 and you go to open a door to a house and it smashes open with 8 zombies on the other side, 3 of them diseased....

If you are here, you can not confirm that.
