Walkers keep spawning?
I had my first try on location #1, taken down a couple walkers melee (I don't know why it takes to 3-4 hits to a head to kill one), then my knife got broken, so I swapped to a revolver and shot...and to the left and to the right spawned a walker. I told myself - alright, stupid mechanics (at least don't make them spawn so close to you and so fast) but lets continue. Then I shot a walker 3 times in a head and he didn't die - I was completely surprised.

I ended up running around a location from horde of walkers, totally out of bullets, no melee weapon, the only thing being able to do is to grab some junk and throw it into my bag.

Is it meant to be like that? I started on normal difficulty. Does they spawn like that on history mode too? And take 3-4 hits to a head?

You are shackled by VR movement system, limited by time (the bell), bullets, durability, stamina and health. Wasn't it enough to make gameplay feel a bit hard?

PS. So the only right type of play is to sneak all the way through, and if you shot - consider it a mistake?

Sneak doesn't seem to work overly well for me. I tend to just grab them and stab. Shooting only seems to work when I'm right next to them, guns aren't overly accurate for me as the gun waves around like I have rubber wrists.

So I tend to grab them and stab carefully (sometimes stabbing myself or their shoulders). Now humans? They take me FOREVER to kill with anything but a gunshot to the head.

Yes, this game is very hard, and it's in such frustrating, artificial ways. Medicine is so scarce. Guns feel terrible. Everything breaks too fast. It's impossible to clear areas. I was really surprised by how difficult it is and how many constraints are placed on you.

Best advice I can give is to find a frying pan ASAP. You do have to bonk zombies on the head 3 times to take them down, but the pan doesn't break and you don't have to dislodge it from their skull afterwards. The bow is good for the poison zombies you have to stay away from, plus it's silent. Good luck.

Yea, I do the same thing. Sneaking behind the walkers is not easy thing here too.

Frying pan, as a melee weapon? hahaha, hope it goes to a weapon slot on your belt.
But bow...I tried shooting from it near the bus - arrows live their own lives lol, but I will try more.
Thanks.

Sadly, you cannot store it on your belt. You have to put it in your backpack or just keep holding it in your hand. I think it's considered to be a junk item instead of a weapon, that's why it's unbreakable.

I just got the game today and after playing 3 hours of it straight we have had very different gameplay experiences. For the record I am also playing on normal difficulty however for me it only takes one good knife swing to the head for a kill and sometimes if it doesnt go in all the way you can jab it in further to make it work, holding their head still with your other hand helps to get a clean hit as well. Shooting, although I havent done it too much, doesnt seem to be as dramatic as you tell it either; I was in a full blown firefight with a little group of people and throughout the whole encounter I would say a total of 3 or 4 walkers ended up shambling up behind me but they were far enough for me to hear, reload, and swiftly kill each one with a single bullet to the face/head. The only real horde type encounter I have had was a zombie fiddling around by a car but when I approached him a group of 4 more busted out behind him but I was right next to the skiff so I had an easy escape without having to kill any.

I maxed my gun crafting station, and the game became absurdly easy. The humans can be shot at a distance and do not react when their pals are hit right next to them. As a result, raiding a base for Tower Intel is a cakewalk. Even if a fight does break out, any of the semi autos make dispatching humans a snap. Plus Zombies dispatched easily enough with a knife or a gun. Or you can just sneak by most zombies with crouch and keeping out of their line of sight.

The game then becomes even easier when the supply drops activate. Drowning in supplies.

Medicine is super abundant in bathrooms and kitchens in the beginning of the game. Stock up then. Thereafter, keep out of reach of poisoned zombies. Damage itself is healed easily enough with bandages.

Shotguns lay waste to humans. Center mass at any indoor range. Dead. Head shot is quickest, but it only takes a few shots from semi autos as well. Just don't be afraid to use ammo.

Yeah it's the same for me. 2-5 hits to the head to kill a zombie no matter how fast or wide the stab arc is. Gun was useless to me as when the zombie is close you cannot shoot it as your rubber wrist gets hooked on zombie's body and you cannot aim at it lol. And yes, the zombies respawn infinitely, often few meters behind you.

You have to follow through with the melee weapon, don't just stop the second it hits the target. If it doesn't kill immediately keep "pushing" with the weapon until it goes in. It's really not that difficult to grasp. Also don't go charging in, try and use some stealth it really does work (as well as walker guts). Once you upgrade melee weapons, dispatching multiple targets isn't that much of a task. Or maybe you're just crap at the game. Who knows.

For any of the stabbing weapons, use your free hand to grab the zombie by the head. One smooth stroke or push with the blade is all it takes.

For axes and swords, a smooth moderate swing aiming at the head or neck. Don't swing too jerky with the simulated weight.

With pistols, grab the zombies head with your free hand. Place pistol against head. Done.

Manual reloading rifles can be trickier with the simulated weight. If you miss your first shot, just smack the zombie away with the gun, reload and try again.

If there is a crowd of zombies, you can grab one by the head and push it back into the crowd to make space.

Here is a compilation video of a dude basically walking through swarms of enemies no problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LPCR-icQxQ.

Impressive, but even here at 8:47 I see that zombie hold 2 hits to a neck with a knife and then 3 shots from a SHOTGUN to a head, lol.

If your holding the zombies head and your knife isn't going in, your probably low on stamina from running. You should never be running except in extreme circumstances.
Even spoons and and broken bottles kill in one stab.
Also, if your overwhelmed on the streets, you can pull yourself onto a car bonnet and onto the roof. They can't get you here, and you can crouch and reach out and take them out one at a time.

I think he hit the shoulder in his first swing and that zombie had what looked like a kevlar helmet. I wonder if that makes a difference.
I haven't play for long but the game has not really been difficulty so far, normal. Zeds go down quick, never really bother with body shoots. Even took out a guy trying to rob me by throwing a knife at his face. that was really cool moment.

Can you really? I'll try that tonight. Last time I tried to get up on a car I hurt myself and didn't get anywhere.
