How Much TWD to Watch Before Playing This?

I'm aware there is a "The Walking Dead" TV show, but I haven't watched much of it, and haven't seen it in years.

Will parts of the story not make sense if I haven't watched "The Walking Dead" TV show before I play this? Will the game spoil the TV show?

It's set in the "TWD universe" but with different characters and locations.
Watching the show might help understand the "rules" of the world of the game, i.e. what senses zombies use to hunt, What kills them etc etc. The show itself is basically a mystery series unraveling the puzzle of how a single straight white man survived when every other character is a homosexual person of color and or a zombie.

You don't have to watch the shows to play this. It also does not spoil the show so you will be fine.

Show is completely separate stroy however they are set in the same universe.
Only thing that may be useful to know is that everyone is already infected, as in everyone will respawn as a zombie once they die unless their brain is damaged (eg shooting a person in the chest will cause them to rise as a zombie), oh and you can use walker guts to disguise against walkers.
