NPC Deaths
Without spoiling anything specific, do npc deaths affect the story or game in any significant way (or will the important ones be invulnerable or something?)

I witnessed the first npc quest giver getting attacked only to flee the area after I helped her, so I'm guessing she can die? (is she gone forever? I needed that code for the safe :steamsad:) I just made it to the Tower before logging off last night, and I enjoyed observing the npcs kill approaching zombies and such. I then kind of just... watched... the first two npcs in the alley near the Tower get mauled by an approaching zombie (they were kind of hostile anyways.. lol), so I was wondering.

Should I be trying to save people, or does it not matter? The people at the Tower don't seem too welcoming but I figured I might befriend them down the road or something. It was kind of cool seeing both of them rise up as zombies a minute later.

I just want to know if your choices outside of quests and conversations can mess up questlines and that sort of thing. I'm not too familiar with Walking Dead games.

Yes, killing an npc can have an effect on the game.

Alrighty then. I guess I'll try and help everyone out when I can, rather than seeing how things play out and standing there like :winter2019neutralyul:

When someone is killed they drop what they have on them, so you are not gonna not be able to get a code or something for not helping.

She immediately drops the key if you do that. Not sure how that affects the tower cache missions though.

Right now I'm at the one where the guy asks you to save his brother who is being held by the 4 people on the second floor of that blue house. Of course I don't like to be ordered to execute some random guy I just met... so I'm trying to kill all 4 of them instead -.-

Can't seem to kill them before they kill me, almost though. Died 4 times. The fifth time I shot him by accident as he came running down the stairs, mistaking him for one of them. Then I brought a propane tank upstairs and tried to place it in a way that would kill most of them but not the hostage. Shot it and it killed everyone in the room lol. Now I'm exploring other methods.

I went in from the wall climb outside, I was able to kill the guy behind the couch, then kill the others with headshots as they come into view.

I'm mostly sad that I couldn't just avoid killing anyone and still save him, climbed into the tower house to get the part I needed and a note which might have avoided any revenge killing, but I was saddened to find out it didn't matter.

Yeah my headshots aren't quite on point yet I guess, at least not in six shots. Reloading in that fight with the six shooter has been risky, and I don't have a 9mm yet. Double barrel and rifle probably don't really work in that situation. I think I might just test exactly how far the propane explosion goes. It was kind of a fun experiment and made me laugh given the circumstances.

Heated hostage scenario is happening where everyone is armed and on edge. Random guy suddenly shows up with a propane tank. Proceeds to place the tank down, step back a moment with a calculative expression on his face only to pick it up and place it somewhere else. Does this 2-3 times. All eyes are on me but no one seems to have a problem with this.

VR just makes this scenario even funnier.

For NPC that give quest, I like to kite or push zombie towards them. but they can easily kill 1 to 2 zombie unless they get attacked from blind spot. I even saw one kill 6 as the zombie group i kited were quite spaced out.

nothing is messed up by killing quest giver or unique NPC. the story treats them as still alive. for example you can still hear JB and georgia on the radio. May still send you missions

You only see May twice, the first meeting and the second time in the reserve.
For 2nd run through, you can try collecting Unique NPC Heads

6 Unique heads are JB and Georgia, May and Amber, Casey and Henri
If you want "clean" head aka no blood, you have to chop it off while they are alive.

For Henri - dont kill him when he turns and one night when you return from mission or wake up he should be loitering outside the bus.
