how do i disguise myself as a walker?

i tried cutting one open and smearing myself but that didnt quite work lmao

moving to fast, or another zombie saw you before it was applied...

if you move to fast certainly run, then you will cancel it out, if you attack any zombie then the disguise is over, etc

You will encounter walkers with semi-opened guts. They are the shirtless ones.
First time I encountered them is during the first pump attachment mission.
Just get the guts, 'rub' it against your 'face' and progress bar will show up.
Keep rubbing until it's full.

When disguised, don't ever sprint - you'll break character.
Don't attack walkers, too, especially in front of another one.
You may carry a weapon but don't ever attack one.
