Game crashes right at start

I have a geforce gtx 970 graphics card i7 processor and 8gb of ram and i have been able to play most vr games with no problems and when i try to play this game even on the lowest of settings in the options it still crashes right after the main cutscene and as it tell you about the reserve and the boat goes inbetween the two buildings the game crashes. Time and time again i have tried to make adjustments and still it crashes. I got through the tutorial just fine and the main game won't work. PLease developers i have sent multitude of data to the hardware crash data for geforce. Please help me find a way to play this amazing game.

If i have to make upgrades to my rig to play this game then i will but if that is not the issue then please help me find a way to play this game with my current rig.

Try upping your windows pagefile

it keeps crashing and then there is the unreal crash analyzer that asks me if i want to send them the data for the game crash.

was hoping not to change any current settings on my operating system.

ya it dose the same for me but it wont even give me a chance to send them a crash report i just want to play this lovely game

i tried turning off my firewalls and it allowed me to play the game. Try that and it may fix your problem too.

This change won’t hurt anything but could improve your programs , it allocates an area on your hard drive to load a portion of the program on to run,and with only 8gb of ram your pagefile should be set to at least around 12 gb I think it’s 12288mb or something like that. Doesn’t hurt to at least check where it is at and up it a couple gigs. Just google how to change it quite simple and can fix some issues until you upgrade . If it doesn’t help than an upgrade may be in your future.

For VR you need to upgrade. Even the recommended specs for most games will not run VR smoothly, and will put you in reprojection most of the time.

At minimum I would upgrade to 16gb 3000mhz RAM, a 1070 GPU or higher, and a SSD.

The gfx card maybe, but the rest isn't minimum requirements. DDR3 1600mhz will run fine and all the SSD will do is speed up loading time, but it won't make a performance difference.

I just booted it up to check. GPU RAM: 5.7GB System RAM: 10.5GB used. Nothing else running except Steam and TWD:SS while standing in the Bus (first area that he cant load).

Well. I have a GTX 1660 and a I7-9700. Nothing wrong with my Rig. Same Problem here. it starts as a Blackscreen and closes after 10 Seconds. Nothing works.

If you use an oculus then try opencomposite.

I had the same issue, the opening cutscene would just freeze and crash, validating the files fixed it for me, but I do still get occasional crashes but not very often at all.
