What exactly are we supposed to do after the bells ring?

So I got caught in the post bells zombies right after getting back to the boat. The boat got locked out and then what seemed like an unlimited ammount of zombies come at me. Are we supposed to get back to the bus? Or fight them off? Or hide till they disperse? How can we get back to the bus if the boat gets locked out after the bells ring?

well the map on the bus says " If you hear the bells.... .RUN!!!!! "

Run to where tho? If I’m on another map than the bus and can’t get back to the bus.

Bells mean its night... run back to a boat and go home to sleep.

But he said the boat got locked out, so you can't travel back to where the bus is?

I just died too not knowing if I should wait or what (though I blew myself up). Lost over an hour of play, can't believe it doesn't save more often!

If the boat is locked out and you can't get back to the bus, it sounds like you're supposed to die. No, really: my guess is that when the horde comes, you're not meant to survive. I could be completely wrong, though.

The skiff map shouldn't be locked, there could have been a pop up if you had a side quest that you didn't finish, but it should block you. If you pick the map up, the Resting Place may be the only spot you can select though. With a herd of Walkers coming, that can be intense =)

And yes, if the bells ring, you want to get back to the boat asap! Or stick around and chop some heads off, your pick!

However, if you do get stuck again, let me know the map and quest you're on.

It may have been because I was in the middle of talking to the woman who’s husband I just killed. I may have still be stuck in that dialogue for some reason. If you can actually use the boat after the bells, then I’m okay with all that. Without that there’s nothing to do other than die.

If you leave before speaking to her again about her husband, what happens? Does the quest fail or restart, or wait until you come back?

Dunno but i forgot the ring and when i got back the corpse despawned so i killed her and got the code anyway.

Yeah she disappeared before I could get back to her and the bells rang so the quest disappeared for me, kinda stupid

Yeah I don't like not being able to just scavenge my first day and go back home and do quests later.

i took her quest, killed him, got the ring and then the bells rang and she despawned.. havent seen her since. Maybe should be mentioned to quickly complete any quests before the bells ring. i was taking my time looting and exploring. probably will just restart now since i cant hack open the safe.

All the NPCs disappear, so all you can do is look for junk and then return to the bus.
