Can't I just link my Steam account without needing to make a Ubisoft account to play Anno 1800?

previous versions of this game had direct-connect peer-to-peer multiplayer and there was no reason to be logged into anything to play it

I find it very useful. It lets me play Anno 1800. That said, the previous version was much better. It let me play Anno 1800, it gave me a bunch of statistics about things like hours played and largest population, and it let me play offline with one simple mouse click. Plus it didn't bombard me with ads.
