for 5 bucks i'ld say that it's good enough (not for the full price!)
I appreciate your input Rincewind. I think I'll pass. 25-30 hours doesn't feel like a full game at all. And I wouldn't even know where to start looking at the DLC options to expand it. A lot of them look like they just add cosmetic building options.
There should be better replay ability in a game like this without needing DLC. Then if we love it, buy expansions, ect.
2070 is the best one still IMO.
1800 just has no charm. It has no character whatsoever. None of the actual characters are memorable at all. All the goods you create and trade are boring and generic. IMO the only upside 1800 has is running multiple maps at the same time, if you even count that as an upside, the micromanagement is probably too much for most players to handle.
You can easily get 100-200 hours with the base game. I would even recommend to start with the base game and only activate DLC after you reached everything in the base game. Else it is becoming too overwhelming as you get 5 years of content from the start.
i think u should buy base game first and see if you like it or not
The most content-packed DLCs are Passage, Sunken Treasures, Land of Lions, and New World Rising. These add entirely new regions to the game with their own questlines, in some cases populations
There are smaller Content DLCs that add new mechanics/features and are less important. Botanica, Seat of Power, Bright Harvest, Docklands, High Life, Tourist Season, Seeds of Change, Empire of the Skies, The Anarchist.
These all tend to focus on expanding one part of the game. IE: Bright Harvest allows you to mechanize farming, Docklands allows you to export/import resources to a trader to help manage resource float, Seeds of Change adds the Hacienda structures and Fertilizer. A lot of these smaller DLCs usually also have a custom scenario with them as well
Special thanks to bwc153 for explaining the DLC list so well. Kudos mate ^^
If the Vanilla experience is decent enough as many are suggesting, I think the sale is reasonable enough to give it a shot. And I like how helpful and positive the community is on the discussion board.
Thank you everyone. I'm going to grab the base game and give it a shot.
Happy Gaming Everyone ^^
