Ubisoft has litterally faced one of their games being pirated, cracked, and released before it's official release date, and still put DRM on the game. It ain't gonna change a thing. Ubisoft is a ignorant developer, and don't listen to their audience at all. They only listen to the number of Sales.
Unfortunately for us, the Anno series is amazing. So we are forced to support Ubisoft. Luckily due to the amount of people that do like the game, it means more content will be released, and a new game will come out every 5ish years. Bad part, is Ubisoft asks for a premium price for lower then average amounts of content.
They don't delete your account for being inactive.
Okay, I did a little research. After six months they will send you a mail to inform you that your account is flagged for deletion. You then can respond inside a month to tell them not to. If you don't do that they will delete it. I'm not sure about the legality of that, they argue it's to comply with local data protection legislation.
So yes, it's pretty bad that they can do that, but it's also unlikely it will happen to you since they give you a warning. The worst case scenarion would be that you have your account on an email account you never check.
Also their lie about why they're doing it is also why they're a horrible corporation. If they had to do that, why is no one else doing it?
I don't know. It's not good, I'm not defending it.
This is a long standing policy that was already debated heatedly when it was first announced, and Ubisoft did not seem fit to clarify back then. Just because an issue isn't brand new doesn't make it wrong to bring it up again if it is still unresolved.
