How does economy work when comparing players?
So today while playing I noticed that when comparing military and economy against the NPC's (Was seeing if I was lower in military just in case I was falling behind and risked someone declaring war on me for being too weak) that my friends eco was much higher than mine despite the fact that at the time of comparing I was earning about 4k and had I think over 300k whereas when I asked him wondering how much he was making at the time he said he was losing 700 and was at around 100k (He was moving things around at the time)

We're both fully sustaining without needing to buy anything from the NPCs like rum ect. I have three islands in the old world he's got 4 and in the new world he has 3 islands to my 2.

Just curious how the game works out the Eco score. Military I fully understand as it's based on your ships and what defences your islands have but Eco is a bit of a mystery for me.

Also on a side note I'm "Calling out" one of the NPCs as he's a down right hypocrite as I lost rep with him for having too much pollution on my main island yet when I checked out his, he had just as many pollution creating building! (This is of course a joke I'm not seriously complaining)

I just quickly tested it with a fairly new save I had, started at company/profile level 2, it said i was economy 2. going to company/profile level 3 the economy level changed to 3.

(I have a couple hundred hours in game but had to buy it ubisoft store since it was not avilable here at the time)

I doubt it's something as volatile as current income and it's certainly not total money. I'd say they tied it to goods produced per minute.

Yes, it's definitely company level. I just checked two save (one at 45 and the other at 73) and they both correlate.
Learn something new every day despite playing since launch day.

What is company/profile level?

When you start a campaign/continuous game you create a company that works under the queen. if you hover the mouse over the profile picture in top left it will expand a little and tell you the company level. once you reach global population milestones it levels up. it dose two things, increase your "economy" stat and gives you more influence to spend.

Also, if you go to Load Game, the number below each portrait is the Company Level.
