is it possible to invite steam friends if playing on epic

Yes, crossplay is able do do now.

To make that happen, your Steam friends will need to link their Epic accounts to enable cross platform friends/invites, but yes, it is totally doable!

Does the game have cross-play if playing solo? Seems like everybody is on steam when playing on steam. The 2 games I played on my other account on Epic, they were all Epic (this week).

It certainly does have crossplay - Epic vs Steam players are not really marked one way or another, other than Epic players don't have profile pictures (because the Epic Games Store doesn't have profile pictures currently)
