What '3d settings' should I change? In-game or elsewhere?
Yes, I did for both games.
Could I take you up on that offer of providing clarification?
I ask because the NVIDIA software seems to have changed substantially since the article below was published in March 2019. The options are no longer the same, and being a layperson, I'm not sure how far I'll get messing with things I don't understand.

I'm not a computer expert myself but right click your desktop and the control panel should appear as one of the options. Select that and go to manage 3-D settings. You'll have to click add to add the game you're having issues with from the customize menu. It should be in there if you have the game installed. Then just make sure have high performance NIVIDA processor selected. I think that's all you have to do :)
I would appreciate the link please.
I'm afraid I don't know which exact link Lailyssa may have used, but I was able to find this Nvidia support article[www.nvidia.com], which has more information on how to configure your 3D settings via the Nvidia Control Panel. This sounds pretty similar to the steps that Lailyssa provided, so I'd recommend checking it out. There's also some links providing in that article to other Nvidia support articles about configuring the 3D settings you can take a look at as well.
Thanks!
