How to run and sprint please?
In AC3 remastered, to *sprint* you press forward (W), and shift at the same time. This is equivalent to on the controller, holding right trigger down hard.

Does anyone know how to *run* in AC3 remastered using KB&M? (run is slower than sprint, on the controller it's the difference between holding right trigger halfway down, and holding right trigger all the way down).

NB in customise controls, right mouse is associated with precision aim. There is no "run" or "sprint" to remap, in customise controls, so I can't see what the default controls are.

Hey PseudoNymNZ,

By Default, the Sprint button is 'Shift'.

Like the triggers on a controller it is also pressure sensitive so the more you hold it town, the faster you run until it's a full sprint.

This doesn't appear to be rebindable though.

Could you also test if 'Shift' works for you?

Thank you!

Piano keyboard keys are pressure sensitive, but computer keyboard keys are not. They only register on or off. They work the same as buttons on a controller. What you are saying makes as much sense as saying hold the A button on a controller halfway down. What you are asking me to test doesn't work, the shift key is only ever going to be pressed or not pressed.

I gave this a test myself and holding it down all the way had me at full sprint but having it lightly pressed was more a brisk jog.

That said, for clarity, I've checked this on a K60.

What keyboard are you using? And have you given the shift key a try already?

Thank you. my keyboard is a Logitech G105 gaming keyboard. To summarise info from various sources, in AC3 Remastered:
-walk = W
-sprint (low profile) = W plus shift
-sprint (high profile) = W plus shift plus space
-And if you have a post 2019 gaming keyboard which features pressure sensitive keys (most keyboards have keys which are simply on or off), then to *run* you press W plus shift (partway down). For clarity, running is partway between walking and sprinting. It is the equivalent of on the controller, holding right trigger partway down (plus left stick up) rather than holding right trigger fully down.

Regarding the differences between low profile and high profile (below differences apply to both sprinting and running), from the in-game manual:
-While you are freerunning [W plus shift], you will only take "safe" jumps. If you want to jump off where you are, with no regard for safety, you can press space [high profile].
-Also, if you are using W plus shift to freerun through trees, and there is a choice between going forward and going up, Connor will move forward by default [low profile]. You can hold space [W plus shift plus space ie high profile] to jump up higher in the trees.
-If there is a low object such as a small fence in front of Connor, W plus Shift will first make Connor jump on top of the fence, and then [in low profile] continue moving [along the top of the fence] in whatever direction you are pressing. If you want to make Connor pass smoothly right over the small object eg fence, hold space while you approach it [high profile].

Hello PseudoNymNZ,

I'm sorry - I'm finding it unclear as to how you're getting on in-game yourself.

So for clarity - Shift is not working for you?

Which profile have you personally used / tested with?

Thanks for the follow-up. I have a Logictech G105 gaming keyboard. It does not feature pressure sensitive keys (no keyboards prior to 2019 feature pressure sensitive keys, see https://www.pcgamer.com/au/cooler-master-launches-a-keyboard-with-pressure-sensitive-keys-for-dollar200/). All the keys on my keyboard, including the shift key, are only on or off (pressed or not pressed). I can't *run* (as distinct from sprinting) unless I use the controller right trigger.

In summary shift is not working for me in terms of being able to run (although I can sprint, and walk), and never will work for running, because only certain hardware/keyboards support detection of how far down a key is pressed.

Hi there PseudoNymNZ.

Thanks for clarifying this for us, it's much appreciated.

There are three movement speeds available to you when playing on keyboard and mouse in AC III Remastered:
- Regular movement - W/A/S/D
- Fast walk - Space Bar (while moving)
- Sprint - Right Mouse Button (while moving)

These controls are the default settings. Further controls can be seen here if needed:
{LINK REMOVED}

Could you try holding space while moving, to see if this is the 'run' movement speed you were looking for?

Many thanks.

No, the information you’ve just provided is wrong. Sprint is not right mouse button. And the PDF control guide at the link you provided is the wrong manual/not for AC3 Remastered.

The default controls (viewable ingame in customise controls) for AC3 Remastered (2019) are:
-Regular movement = W/A/S/D (so W for move forward ie walk)
-Jump = space bar
-Precision mode (aim eg bow) = right mouse button
-High profile = shift

The default controls changed RADICALLY between AC3 (2012) and AC3 Remastered (2019). For example, in AC3 (2012), sprint was right mouse button, whereas in AC3 Remastered, right mouse button is used for precision aim, and sprint is shift.

I believe the PDF Control Guide in the link you posted is actually for AC3 (2012), not AC3 Remastered (2019). Other external websites appear to have made the same error, for example https://guides.gamepressure.com/assassinscreediii/guide.asp?ID=17572 says it is the controls for AC3 Remastered, but it actually appears to be the controls for AC3 (2012) (BTW their list of controls aligns with what is in your PDF).

If you think the PDF is supposed to be for AC3 Remastered (2019), then a whole bunch of entries in the PDF are wrong, eg just to pick some examples in the Naval section:
-Accelerate is space, not E
-Decelerate is E, not Q
-Take cover is left mouse, not space
-Fire cannon is shift, not left mouse button
As I said, I think that PDF is simply the controls for AC3 (2012), not AC3 Remastered (2019).

Further issues I noticed with the in-game help for AC3 Remastered while trying to get to the bottom of this:
-Options, Customise Boat Controls does not list the default control for take cover (left mouse), nor allow you to remap it
-The in-game manual does not cover ship controls
-The in-game manual does not cover board games and controls for them

The Ubisoft website also has various errors I found while trying to get to the bottom of this:
1. https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/gameplay/article/where-can-i-find-the-game-manual/000075377 , if you click on the link “Assassin's Creed III Controller Manual” you get 404 error

2. https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/assassins-creed/all-games , if you click on the link “Visit website” under Assassins Creed III Remastered (if you hover it says https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/assassins-creed-3-remastered/ ), you get 404 error

3. https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/assassins-creed/all-games , if you click on the link “Visit website” under Assassin’s Creed III (if you hover it says https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/assassins-creed-3/ ), you get 404 error

Responding to the comment that shift / sprint does not appear to be rebindable.

Actually, it *is* rebindable, but in AC3 Remastered (2019), in customise controls, it's called "High Profile", and no longer called "Sprint" (which is what it was called in AC3 (2012)).

To rebind, press esc while ingame, go to options, "customise controls" (NOT "controls"), press down arrow to go down to "high profile", press enter to tell the game you want to select that to change, then press the key you desire to use (you can even press Right Shift if you are left-handed and want to use that instead of Shift).
