Ultrawide not working, I get black bars in cutscenes...
I set the resolution to native (2560x1080) and the aspect ratio to 21:9 on my ultrawide monitor, but I get black bars in cutscenes.... Is there any fix for this? The game is supposed to support ultrawide natively.

There's a fix on WSGF: https://www.wsgf.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=176186#p176186

Talking about the Remaster, the fix is for base AC3.

By all signs it's for Remaster:
- It's in the thread called "Assassins Creed III Remastered need a Ultra Wide Fix"
- It's 1 months since release of Remaster.
- It features also Assassin's Creed: Liberation executable, and this game is included in Remaster but not in the original game(it was released as a separate game before).

Original AC3 has its own fixes here https://www.wsgf.org/dr/assassins-creed-iii/en

It doesn't work, I installed it and now Ubisoft asks me to enter product key again.... I verified steam files removing the modified exes and the game works again.

Hello everyone, sorry for the delayed reply. In order to get the game to run on a wider monitor such as a 21:9 type resolution as a workaround you can edit the games settings .ini file, in a notepad type application and changing the aspect ratio to 2.

By default the game settings file should be located here - C:\Users\%user%\Documents\Assassin's Creed III Remaster\AC3.ini

If you wish to delete any of the settings you have changed please delete the .ini file, then when launching the game a new default file will be created in its place.

The game only "supports" 2560x1080 21:9, so if you do this you will get slight pillarboxing at 3440x1440, so you need to hex edit the .exe (guide here https://frondtech.com/ultrawide-fix-for-black-bars-removal-assassins-creed-liberation-remastered/). Additionally the game will not play cutscenes in 21:9 without another annoying workaround - at the start of every cutscene you have to go into the pause menu and back out which gets rid of the pillarboxing. And if the cutscene changes scene, for example when Haytham leaves his cabin to go up on deck, it resets the pillarboxing, so you have to press the pause button again. I played through the entire game doing this.
