Savegames from Ubisoft version
Hello,

I would like to ask if there is any way to migrate a saved game from the Ubisoft version to the Steam version.

I have now tried to copy save files and also tried other tools to convert saved games but without success. Isn't there any procedure to convert the games?

Thank you

It can be closed, I did the wrong thing originally.
If anyone is looking for a procedure, just download the ACSaveTool, available at this link:

https://github.com/linuslin0/ACST

BEFORE WE START, I WANT TO MENTION THAT I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGED SAVES, MAKE SURE TO BACK UP EVERYTHING YOU WORK WITH THOROUGHLY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!

Before this procedure, you need to start a new game via the Steam version and make it generate the save positions for Steam, ID 5184.

The default save game locations for Ubisoft are:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegame\<UbisoftConnectID>\5183
  • 5183 = AC 3 Remastered (Ubisoft Version)
  • 5184 = AC 3 Remastered (Steam Version)

You can read about other paths here:

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-ca/help/assassins-creed-odyssey/article/save-game-locations-for-assassins-creed-iii-remastered/000063622

Then you need to search the saved games of the original game for the Ubisoft version under ID 5183. Make a backup of these files so you don't lose them (ACSaveTool created the backup files automatically in the "acst_backup" folder, but back up your save positions again just to be safe). Then create an ac3-remastered-backup folder, for example on your desktop, and copy the files from the 5183 folder into that folder (these are the files with the .save extension.

Open ACSaveTool, then click on the "Open..." button and select all the files from 5183 folder (these files will be modified by the tool). Check the "Detect" option next to the "Decryption ID" option. Then click the "..." button and select the 1.save file from the 5184 folder.

Check that you have selected everything correctly and click on "Convert". If the process was successful according to the messages, you can close the program.

Then just move the .save files from folder 5183 to folder 5184.

BEFORE YOU TURN ON THE GAME, YOU MUST DISABLE "Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games" in the SETTINGS in Ubisoft Launcher.

After that, start the game and you should see your new saves. Once we turn the game off, we can return the "Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games" option and turn the game back on as we are used to. :steamhappy:

I'd say tha it'll be a lot easier if you simply check this link for the very same information[github.com] and then do it manually instead of using an unknown program to do that for you. :winter2019happybulb:

Thank you for the information, I followed this sheet and since it is only a guide for this game, I wrote it straight into the manual.

As for the unknown application, it's up to everyone whether to use the guide or not. And I'm afraid that not everyone is capable of doing this to modify the encryption of a given saved game in their own way.

Anyway, thanks for the comment, and if you know how to do it better, I think there's nothing stopping you from making a new tutorial, which I'm sure the community will also appreciate :)
