AC III Crashes when Opening Weapon Wheel

My game crashes every time when I tried to open the weapon wheel, both in AC III main game and in DLC. Someone knows how to fix/avoid that? I would be appreciated.

The issue happened when I progressed enough in both AC III main game and the DLC. In AC III main game: somewhere in sequence 10 or 11. In DLC: after a few scenarios in chapter 2, when I unlocked the eagle ability.

It feels like when I unlocked a certain number of weapons, opening the weapon wheel will lead to crash.

I also tried to follow the instructions in this post: https://steamcommunity.com/app/208480/discussions/0/3338745825900972449/. I tried to update driver, disable MSAA, and disable VSYNC, but so far nothing works.

The issue prevents me from getting 100% synchronization in AC III main game and pushing over chapter 2 in the DLC. I would be really appreciated if someone knows a solution.

I finally figured out myself. The crashing was caused by a Cheat Engine script downloaded from the Fearless Cheat Engine site. At some point in the game the script might ruin your save, leading to crashing with opening the weapon wheel.

I gave up my first (ruined) 40+ hours save and replayed the game without using the script (actually, I made my own script for some essential cheats), and everything worked well. I have unlocked all the achievements in Uplay.

Should've mentioned Cheat Engine from the very start. Any third-party intrusion can lead to problems. Sometimes overlays like Steam's overlay or MSI Afterburner's can crash the game and Cheat Engine is potentially far worse as it directly changes code and/or variables.

I never understood why, but supposedly cheating is an forbidden topic. What you do with a single-player game is entirely upto you, ubisoft is acting a LOT like abstergo recently.
