Double Assassination With Musket Challenge

I've been trying to do the "Perform a double assassinations with a musket" (sic) challenge in the Westpoint Missions challenges but I cant make it work. I have google this and watched some vids on how to do it but they all appear to be for a console version, so it doesnt completely help. I find if you have the musket, get into position, and then go for the assassination, you drop the musket and kill with the hidden blades instead. Can anyone tell me what the catch is? Thanks.

It needs to be in "High Profile" for the assassination to work with the musket.

I use a controller so use the "right trigger" before going up to two guards then "X". (I think it's holding right click then attacking with left click with Keyboard+Mouse)

I did that challenge this way: I killed an enemy, took his musket. Then I ran for the enemy groups of four or two which stalling near the corners. Then alligned 2 enemies while I'm running towards them and hit for assassination button. Connor stabs one enemy from back and shoot the other enemy which stands in front of the stabbed one.

It's Shift (run/climb) + Left Click (assassinate/attack) on PC.
