this is exactly like the mount and blade commander Multiplayer mode, are there similar games like this without the massive grind?

The grind is the fun part.

Blood of Steel ,if its not completely dead by now.

This whole genre is very nearly dead as a whole. It is just too niche.

Kingdom Under Fire might be up your alley. Singleplayer game, and you command up to 5 different troops of similar size like here. Once your main hero meets an enemy you go third person hack'n'slash. Magic, dragons and orcs

Maybe Dynasty/Samurai Warriors as well? I think, in the newer games you can actually order units around, so that might be worth a shot

Bannerlord multiplayer is dead because it didnt get a single update since relase.Blood of steel is actually a good multiplayer game but devs only add new skins so they can keep the game alive for a little longer xd.

in which one can you order units?
played a lot of warrior games but not the newest ones as the reviewes were negative.

Well, uuh, honestly, i havent really played any Dynasty Warriors myself, but the Empires games of that series at least read like you could do that. With fortress siege, tactics and stuff, but maybe it's better to just have a peek at a proper Youtube video. Also...

I think, in Samurai Warriors you can actually assign certain troops to yourself who then follow you around. But I need to check that again. Don't wanna talk out of my arse here, so I will check Samurai Warriors at least myself

welcome to the niche genre fandom. Other than bannerlord and total war as you already know, this game is the best possible you can play. If you know any alternative I am more than happy to know.
Odzianna Sep 3, 2024 @ 10:09am
Right, checked Samurai Warriors 4-II and turns out you can't order troops around, only a single hero. Blood of Steel is supposedly close, but playerbase looks... really small.

It is quite grindy, but Myth of Empires is a game where you can gather up later on up to 3 warriors, equipt them to your liking, give them horses and such, and make them join you in battle. Or leave them at home to cook meals for you :D

No idea why this genre is such a niche.

How is Blood of Steel compared to this one? Isn’t it also pretty grindy.
Odzianna Sep 4, 2024 @ 10:46pm
I haven't played it, but it does get compared to Conqueror's Blade, so that's something, I guess. But since the player numbers look really small... even if it is much better, if noone plays it that doesn't change much
Burba Sep 5, 2024 @ 11:07am
The combat in Blood of Steel is better in my opinion. However everything else is worse.
