Advice on how to hit obsidian?

Trying to hit obsidian after spraying with the water hose to collect some. Any suggestions on how to actually hit it?

@Serrace You must not have tried mining obsidian yet. It can be tricky.

@InformationOverlord Overhead strikes have worked the most often for me. You'll still need to shuffle around a bit sometimes to find a spot that lets you hit it though.

I have not mined it myself but, watched some figuring it all out, seems once you get the hang of it, its not so bothersom.

From my experience of farming over 100 pieces. Overhead strikes are the only effective hit that will actually hit the ground. You will also need to shuffle around until the area is highlighted that you sprayed, once you have mined that entire chunk, it will disappear and you'll need to move to the next. Not every hit will give you obsidian. You'll need to re-spray after a while as it will return to lava. I have also found that after a while of farming the same patch, you will get less pieces. That could be a glitch or my terrible aim and frustration. Haha

y'all still farm obsidian on lava maps? why? it's way easier to get on Asteroid crash site maps or at meteor crash sites on any map...
