I don't feel like the rupu camps are solo friendly even with automaton
No matter the distance I shoot the rupu ballistas at, they can fire back at pretty great accuracy whereas my bolts for some reason spread a little.

Finally grinded to get an automaton and well yeah its great I can manually fire but I feel like its only effective against walkers etc

I followed a video to lure the rupus out the solo ballista camp and then run up to the ballista which downed me when I climbed up but then I managed to solo the rupu manning it.

All in all I'm going to be skipping this season I guess as it feels more orientated to small groups to bigger groups rather than solo/duo due to rupu camp difficulty, I must say the schematic thing is a nice touch but I did wast 8+ hours just trying to unlock the dinghy and get as far as I've gotten.

Well, youre doing it kinda wrong. Thats not exactly the games fault.
Solo ballista camps? Drive to the ballista, jump up, kill shooter, kill the other 3. Easy.
Larger camps - Spinners go brrrrrrrr!

But it is the games fault initially.... yeah I can drive to the ballista climb up get shot by the 2 scatterguns, and 2 ballistas along with 3-4 rupus at the bottom? sounds great

Oh, sorry. Might have misunderstood that you just want to whine a bit. My fault.

I mean whining is a good way for a person to vent as annoying as it is
balista are very inefficient.

best way to clear camps is spinners on the small weapon slots on the walkers. use the large weapons as backup. and bullet sponges for incoming attacks.

depending on the walker rig you have you can put between 3-6 on each side. this gives you much more sustained fire and can zero a turret before it even fires its first shot. when taking out big camps the order for destroyng the turrets is rokker, scattershot, rupu repeater, balista.

the ammo is cheap 1 stone 1 wood shaft 2 fibre. 2 ammo boxes on the walker + inventory space of the spinners means you can hold thousands of rounds.

if you play like previous seasons you will find it hard. its all about automated walker combat now. once you pile as many weapons onto the walker as possible even the big desert forts can be done solo pretty easy

Yeah guess I'm just used to S1-S4

Your feelings are wrong, the camps are very solo friendly. Don't worry, a lot of people are struggling to adapt to the LOverhaul.

@Valekrin, you've mistaken the OP as well as Zothen did, I'm not talking about camps with just 1 ballista, I did that one just fine.

Yeah, I may try that if I come back to it, haven't decided if I'm staying to play or just moving on.

Eh, yes you did? Do you even read what you write or do you just post random stuff?
And even when youre ignorant about your own ramblings we still told you how to tackle other camps. Try to read again.

Out ranging the camps is easy. Pull up and when the Ballista start firing back up, do not charge in though I get to just where I can make out the ballista but I have bad eyes too. Still I am about 3-6 Dinghy length away. If you are using a Firefly I am not sure how that would work. The dinghy you can get before you leave the starter map. For the med map just roll in slow fire a few shots to get your distance. Also sometimes trees get in the way so can be harder. For the Dinghy 3 Ballista on the very front works great. Note with the Dinghy up higher than the FF you get a better shot.
Hope this helps I did not bother reading through comments you may already been given this. Good Luck. It is solo friendly more than before but you have to some times just think through things. May find that you need a different angle to not draw fire from 2 turret.

You can snipe the turrets at a range they wont fire back. Id recommend a stiletto with 3x ballista and all stingers. Bring 2K darts 1K bolts in a medium container and ammo containers full. You will be able to solo fortresses like this no problem. Once you learn the locations of all the turrets it will get MUCH easier.
Nim Aug 31, 2022 @ 10:02pm
To be honest I'm not even talking about cheesing them by sniping the turrets outside of their range. You don't have to do that. Roll up, blast the turrets with your spinners, clear the rest on foot.
lammaer Aug 31, 2022 @ 11:03pm
2x3 broadside spinner dinghy is enough for all common rupu camps (except the fort with rock). Take the challenge, learn and u will manage.
teamxen Sep 1, 2022 @ 9:06am
Nim - I agree with you 100% you can even do that to fortresses once you learn the turret location and you can hide behind the rock worse case to reload or fix ♥♥♥♥. Honestly shocked that people are finding this so hard so I went with the most dumb down easiest way to do it.
