master server is no more so you must join games via /connect command
The TOAK servers are fun and have bot support

also can go to wolfmp.com and get the modified exe that impliments third party's master server, works good

Those links lead to dead download links and unable to download this 1.4 2012 pack. should i just go to rtcwfiles and d/l the 1.41 patch? also where can i get punkbuster? it's no longer on their evenbalance website. I'm sure I'm on 1.0 with a fresh steam install. :|

In Gameversion tab, check RtCW 1.40/1.41; You should see 31 servers.

You can directly connect from there with some software, or you copy the IP, open the game, the console (² for Azerty keyboards or ~ for Qwerty ones if I'm not wrong), type /connect pasteTheIP then Enter :)

I took a look at the "wolfmp.com" site and at first glance it kind of looked like it was mostly associated with the free Wolfenstein ET multiplayer game. I didn't see that any of that stuff was related or applicable to the steam version as far I could tell skimming through the downloads.

Perhaps I misunderstood the instructions though. Is the "RtCW14pack_111.ex" file what you need to install for this steam version to get the multiplayer to find servers?

I'm getting the same thing once I bought the game. I went into multiplayer and refreshed the list after switching the "source" to "internet" but not one thing popped up.

If you created a server, would it even show up for your friends that have the game? Or would you have to invite them via steam through the game? Just curious.

As soon as I finished typing up my last message, it dawned upon me that I didn't read the last one before mine by, ">M@tEo$"

I went ahead and tried out the command line "/connect (ip address of server) and that did seem to initiate the game to try to join but I would either get something that said I was missing files or I had an invalid command.

So I'm imagining that this is where those update files come into play, am I right?
I'm going to go ahead and install the RtCW14pack_111.exe and see if that helps to establish full connections to one of those servers on the website. I'll come back and mention a word on whether I had any success or not.

Its late though and I need some sleep, so I definitely will try that later when I have the time.

Well the master server is down, the server which makes request to servers and display what's sent back in the client's server list.

I will be honest while saying I haven't tried to join yet any server myself, but the command is correct, since all the idTech Engine 3 games use this command; I haven't tried to download any non-official patch (only one for the SP EXE as I couldn't natively run the game on 7), and I'm mostly playing WolfET :/ When people were asking how to play MP, they were indicated to get on this website, and they were replying positively afterward.

Interesting.
I wasn't having any luck still with joining any of those servers despite the command being correct so I thought maybe I should try to create my own server to have listed on that website.

I haven't actually tried to do it just yet but I wanted to see if I could get someone else I know with this game on steam to join my server if I created it. I'm going to be honest, I don't know anything about creating my server just yet and never have done it before.

You would think if steam is making money off this game, steam or the people making some money on the side for letting steam sell it (the game creators) would do something about the issues with multiplayer. Then again, the game was only $9.99 and that should say something.

I haven't and won't go back onto the free online version of Wolfenstein mostly because its just totally overrun with bots and people cheating despite punkbuster being on. There is no way I'm going to touch that again. When I saw that steam was selling the game, I was a little hopeful that steam could prevent all these cheats and hacks that players (and mostly hosts) have been using but maybe I'm wrong.

The games was released in 2001, I think sooner or later the MP support get dropped...

Well sadly about WolfET you're quite right, but not all servers are like that; PB isn't a reference, they dropped the support a while ago along with RtcW and Quake III. There's an AC program called TZAC for ETPro mod only, and ET:Legacy will have its own AC thingy (Really, check it out!): http://www.etlegacy.com/

I'll go ahead and check out that link you provided.

Yes, unfortunetely, for a lot of users like myself, the cheats really have ruined the game for many people. Am I guilty of using the cheats before; sure. I have used the cheats in the past few years before but I'd prefer to game without them. But there wasn't any real way of telling if people were cheating or not cheating in the past. It would have been nice to know that a company like steam could provide that sort of insurance that people wouldn't cheat.
