Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Should I purchase Return to Castle Wolfenstein with my current system?
Recently I beat Wolfenstein: The New Order. I immensely enjoyed it and now I am interested in trying the previous Wolfenstein games, and I figure Return to Castle Wolfenstein would be a good place to start, barring Wolfenstein 3D. Problem is, I don't really know how I should go about it. I've read accounts of the game not working on Windows 7, so I hate to imagine how it would work on Windows 8. For reference, the system I'm working with is Windows 8 64-bit with no graphics card attached (I'm not very experienced with PC gaming y'see and I can't afford a graphics card at the moment). I have heard of patches that will make the game work on Windows 7, but I'm not sure it would help me.

Failing the Steam version, would the PlayStation 2 version be the way to go? After Max Payne, I'm somewhat wary of early 2000s PC shooters making their way to consoles (not saying Max Payne PS2 is bad, just not the definitive version).

Any help would be nice, please.

Modern integrated graphics should have no problem running RtCW on max settings, it's a 2001 game after all.

The game tends to have some problems on newer systems, but that can be fixed easily

The unofficial patch was essential for me to play RTCW on my PC. Without it the game would crash at resolution changes and at certain parts of the story. The game was effectively unplayable for me, so I left it uninstalled for a long time.
When I found out about and installed the unofficial patch I was finally able to play through the entire game without a problem, and at my native resolution.

Here's the guide I used:
