That forest level...
To make things clear, I consider RTCW to be one of my most favorite games of all time. But I swear this is the only level in the whole game that I absolutely hate and on top of that, it has this annoying bug where last guard goes into alert state for no reason (and no I didn't kill the guard in tower) and he sees you no matter what you do. This isn't challenge, this is horrible design, I know it's an old game, but this thing is really annoying...

Yep, same here. I feel bad for people who's playthroughs get ruined a little bit by encountering that bug the first time playing. Almost every game has "THAT level", and Forest Compound is undoubtedly THAT level for RtCW.

At least once you know what to do, the first 2/3 of the level is quick and easy. It's that last part that can screw you over. There's a couple ways to tackle it, but what I do is
>enter the compound through the window off to the left
>backstab the guy reading a map on the table
>open the door and lean out, watching the guy on the tower
>wait a few seconds and snipe him with your silenced Snooper rifle when he's on the side of the tower facing you (so that the last guy patrolling who you're not supposed to kill doesn't see his dead body and become alerted)
>hang right and go through the gates and snipe the guy next to the truck (where the crates are)
>kill the officer overlooking the front gates with an alarm near him if you haven't already

That's pretty much how I do it, although there's like two or three other ways to go about it.

I'm not sure I understand. How is that a bug? Isn't a bug something that needs to be fixed?
The ultimate goal is to get past him, of course, but that entails more than just not killing him.
He will go on alert for several reasons, but it's also possible to keep him from alerting to you at all.

The bug is moreso the fact that he'll go on alert for a number of reasons (overhears you shooting at someone, sees a dead body on the tower), but he won't run to activate the alarm near his post in order to trigger a fail-state to the player. He'll just kinda stand there, waving his gun left and right in a permanent alert state, and from that moment on, the player is unable to complete the mission. It's rare, but it does happen.

Okay, so the player can't complete the mission, and that is the bug. One has to restart the entire mission - I always thought that was the point (since I had failed the actual mission). Thanks. I guess approaching him directly he would probably just kill you and you get the same result.

Few guards (and one on tower) should be eliminated.
After last one guard death at the end of the level you can return back and kill them all. Not sure how exactly that scripted, cant remeber when its safe to do.
There is also secrets there.

This is most chilled mission and not so chil level of this mission, still easy enough to be fun. Or maybe most fun level f all game? Except Castle itself, of course :)

It's not a bug. You need to walk (the true stealth mode, this also makes possible to open the doors slowly), remember to check corners with Q and E, instead to go crouched everywhere like dumb monkies.

Usually you can run only when you reach back of the truck. I hope this can be useful.
