Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Annoying enemies?
I am at the point with the women that roll around who nearly instakill me, behind every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ corner.
I managed trough the first section with zombies, but this is just too much reloading for me to have fun. Is there anything I can do? Like changing the difficulty mid-game with a command?

Shoot the corners to alarm them, they will change position.
Quickly load the Mauser and instakill them.

Or do a run n' gun headshotting with the Sten, which is a very precise weapon.
Once you get used, even I Am Death Incarnate will be easy!

Here's some tips to help you feel more in control with the combat in RTCW. Will also help against the tougher late-game enemies.

1) Headshots do double damage, so keep that crosshair up around the neck area.
2) You can lean around corners with the 'q' and 'e' keys. This lets you scope out an area and line up shots. You're invisible to the enemies when you do this, so you can't be shot at unless they enter your non-leaning line of sight.
3) You can hold down CAPS LOCK by default to walk slowly, which lets you stay scoped in with your Mauser rifle while moving.
4) Crouching and firing short bursts of 4-5 shots are both actions that heavily increase your accuracy with your automatic weapons.
5) The Sten does more damage per shot than the mp40, as does the Thompson if you have any ammo for it. Learn to use the Sten against singular foes, so the overheating drawback won't come into play.
6) Listen to audio cues like an enemy reloading or their heels tapping on the ground in order to judge when to be aggressive.
7) If you're overwhelmed out in the open with no immediate potential to get to cover and break line of sight, strafing horizontally to them while sprinting will throw their aim off a little bit compared to just standing still.
8) If you're not able to consistently get a headshot at range, use the right weapon. Consider using a grenade to flush them out of cover, and immediately follow up with a Mauser shot. Using the mp40 at long range isn't the most efficient tactic.
9) On the other hand, have patience. You don't have to kill an enemy in a single brush with them. You can whittle an enemy down with a couple potshots, immediately break line of sight behind cover before you take more damage, then re-emerge on a level playing field against a weaker challenger than before.
10) Don't beat yourself up for dying, this game's very punishing even on Normal difficulty!

Good luck out there, Soldier.
