Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Doesn't run on Win 10?
I just bought RTCW and it will not load on Windows 10. It appears to launch but drops back to desktop. My native resolution is 2560x1080.

Should I just try running it in a Win 7 VM?

Just run it through ioRtCW: https://github.com/iortcw/iortcw/releases

If you had a crash after changing the resolution, remove the wolfconfig.cfg file as well (auto-generated)

I was able to get my copy to work with Windows 10 by downloading the unofficial 1.42c patch, installing it and then setting the Windows compatibility mode on the WolfSP.exe executable to Windows XP SP2. You can find the unofficial patch and how to set Windows compatibility through google. If you want I can go into more detail, also the unofficial 1.42c patch adds native widescreen support.

ioRtCW works out of the box and also has native widescreen, with more modern security and fixes/stability features

Thanks this worked great copy and pasted into folders from github download. I launched the game directly from folder to test.

I re-named the WolfSP.exe to WolfSP.exe.old and copy the ioWolfSP.x64.exe to WolfSP.exe and it launched fine from Steam. I'm assuming this would work for the other files as well.

I'm playing on windows 10, 32gb ram on an old tiny pc running an i5 6600 3.4GHZ process with integrated graphics (computer from 2016 should be fine playing a game from ~2003)
