iortcw won't run because PK3 file is missing

(System is 64-bit Windows 7)

Installed RTCW from original cd (not Steam version). Installed the V1.33 patch and a V1.41 update. Then installed 64-bit iortcw.

When I run iortcw, it complains about a missing "sp_pak4.pk3" and tells me to install the 1.41 patch (which of course I've already done).

I tried using a copy of the missing PK3 from the unofficial 1.42d patch at the KMQuake site but that causes a problem with the in-game menu. When I click on "System" in the main menu, the screen flashes and I'm returned to the main menu (i.e., the System submenu doesn't open). All the other submenus work fine. I have no menu problems without this PK3 file.

So I'm stuck. I can't run iortcw without "sp_pak4.pk3" but no patch installs this file.

FWIW I tried several different 1.41 patch files downloaded from several sites (thinking maybe the one I used was corrupt), and also tried a 1.4 full patch (bypassing the 1.33 patch) followed by a 1.41 update. I get the same results in all cases (i.e., no "sp_pak4.pk3" installed).

Is it in your Main folder? It's part of patch-data-141.zip file

Not sure what "it" is referring to in your comment. If you're referring to the missing PK3 file, I've searched in Main and the entire installation folder. It ain't there.

And where would I look for "patch-data-141.zip"? I searched for that too with no luck (including looking within the 1.41 installer EXE when opened with 7-ZIP).

Just be clear, all the 1.41 patches I've tried are packaged as executables. When I run the EXE, the installer seems to finish without error (although the progress bar never seems to get past about 25% before the installer finishes) but no "sp_pak4.pk3" appears.

were does that get installed. what files are to be run. clicked on file and it said it needed to be extracted. (didnt help) moved files to RTCW dir and still didnt help... PLZ help

Don't know what that zip is for since it doesn't contain the file mentioned above. <<<
tHE REASON FOR THE ERROR IS YOU NEED THE ORIGINAL GAME.
