Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Does anyone have any tips on the first boss fight?
So i just got to the first boss fight, the one where I am supposed to eliminate Helga Von Bulow, and I'll tell you, It's kicking by butt! Those ghost things are very annoying. When they attack you, they obscure your vision and sap your health, and they continuessly chase after you once they lock on! Not to mention the lack of a shotgun weapon makes it hard to deal with the zombies at close range. Does anyone have any good tips? If so, then I would appreciate it!

Once he starts summoning those ghosts, a whailing sound starts. Ghosts appear only after a few seconds after the sound starts. So when you hear it, hold SHIFT and sprint into the "spawn room"
Thanks, though is there anything else I should know? Does the boss have any states where he is more vulnerable then normal? Which weapons are more powerful against him? Also, how do I deal with the zombies? I really appreciate the help :steamhappy:.

The Sten SMG seems to be the most effective against all zombies, including the boss. At least in my xp. So stockpile the ammo for it while you progress to the level. Do note that MP40 and Luger both use same ammo as Sten, and the ammo stockpile is shared between the 3 weapons. Try aiming for headshots of the Nazis for one-hit kills and naturally - ammo preservation.

The boss is most exposed when he does the "charge run", as he is rather clumsy at the moment, making it harder for him to turn. Also he CAN NOT sent the ghosts at you when he does that.

Another thing you can do is spam him with grenades. Hold your FIRE button to "coock" the grenade. Throw it at the boss immediatly after the 3rd "click". Note that if you don't throw it after the 3rd click, you shall blow yourself up.

Try running around a lot, but not to far from the "spawn room".

Note that the boss can't walk through the little gateway seperating the courtyard and the "spawnroom", though the usual zombies can.

Oh, and about the Sten. You should know by now, that it overheats of you shoot it for too long. It is compensated by the highest damage among the SMGs, but it is still pretty devastating. Remember to shoot in small bursts of 2-5 bullets, as with long bursts accuracy also drops.

BTW, the boss's name is Olaric.

Hope this helps.

Explosives and kickin' too :P

Explosives I have already covered... BTW, you can try an preserve the TNT found at the end of Village and use it against the boss. Kicking... well, that can be tricky...
Thanks a lot! I will try this strategy once I start playing. Also, I really wish that this game had a shotgun. It would make dealing with the zombies a lot easier at close range, and the Americans did use shotguns in World War 2. It would also be nice if there where more melee weapons aside from the knife and kick, the shovels and pickaxes seen around the excavation site would be fun to use (and effective), and I have always wanted to use those swords and shields used by those demon warriors in the Catacombs. :steamhappy:

Hehe... Well, that would be complicated, due to complications it was impossible. The game is made in 2001, after all.

But yeah. This is the general strategy.

Use Sten SMG in short bursts, grenades, kicks. You can also hip-fire the Mauser K98k from point-blank range.

Thank you very much! This strategy did work for me! Whats surprising though, is that the fight ended quicker then I thought... Still good to know, though! :steamhappy:

To be totally honest... I have just finished it as well (replaying the game for the 999999999th time xD), and I killed him with 2 TNTs and 4 grenades.
