Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

1920 x 1080 resolution?
i've seen lots of people say they change the resolution in the settings, apply it, then game crashes and wont load... the fix for this is to delete the wolfconfig file in the main folder... so does this game only work with tiny little resolutions? surely there is a working patch or whatever that lets people play at various large or widescreen resolutions?

Base game only supports 4/3 resolutions; custom files do support widescreen, like ioRtCW:

yep, you can use a source port like the ioRtCW mentioned above or you can use the unofficial patch. http://www.markshan.com/knightmare/downloads/rtcw-sp-1.42d-win32-bin.zip

you will get game crashes unless you get the patch....pain in the ass to fix if you don't get the patch

Temporarily move the config file out of the game folder and replace it once you've passed the crash points.

For a native widescreen resolution, uses patches, such as ioRtCW, which is going to have a new release soon, with better VSync. Nebo trick, used for years, now belongs to the past...

How do I get Steam to run the .exe that lets me play in my 1600 x 900 res? and by that I mean not adding it as a non steam game, ofc lol.

Indeed, this is the easier and fastest solution, the game boots super fast so is like 30 seconds at most wasted (which is still faster than something crap like a console).

Hi,
1) D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Main
2)Open file wolfconfig.cfg
3) Change this way
seta r_customWidth "1920"
seta r_customHeight "1080"
seta r_mode "-1"
4) Save
5)GG

and then at the system-grafics - video mode find automatic native and apply it. if is not on full screen hit alt+enter and it will be in full screen.

i didnt change the rezolution of my laptop, it remain on recommandat 1366x768
hope it will work and sorry for bad english

I believe the current ioRtCW release includes more resolution without having to open up the console to modify cvars :P Topic is from 2017!
WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS EARLIER??? I tried to play the game years ago and it crashed on the opening cutscene to desktop.
